The penny finally drops

I've just completed week 7 run 2 and decided to follow the advice of running slower this time and boy did it work out for me. After really struggling with run 1 and failing with a previous run 2 attempt I finally throttled back and completed it relatively easily. 25 minutes!! Me, 62 and needing to lose a pound or twenty, I now know I will do this and it's all down to the advice on this forum and of course the magnificent Jo wiley keeping me going.

Yeayyayaya... at last..:)

Slow works.... it really does!

Just relax into the runs.. land gently and let the newly-found running legs find their happy pace...If this 67 and a bit, year old, can run 10K in just over an hour... then it must be true:)

Go you!!!!x

Fantastic stuff! My daughter just completed the exact same run. Previous run she was in tears because she went off too fast and struggled to finish. Tonight I set the (slow) pace and she did brilliantly. I really enjoyed running slower than usual too (although I did throw a couple of Zombie chase sprints into my workout to wake me up!)

Hi Hogman how are you? Good to see your back in the running. Have you now completed the program ? I graduated today. I should have completed December but was unwell, then lost my mojo until last week. Now I’m back on track and did 5k today 😊😊

Hello, lovely to hear from you and see that you completed the course, well done.

My story... well, after my eye op for a cataract and damage to my optic nerve (which went well) I had to stop all exercise for a month. I restarted ok however and quickly got up to speed again on the program. I went to Thailand for a few weeks in January and managed some 26 and 28 minute runs on a hotel treadmill , when I got back I completed the last week and graduated 2 weeks ago. I have started two programs on apps on my phone, one is the 30 day squat challenge and the other is a 30 day fitness challenge, both are ok and im working away at them but ive picked up the nasty ozzy flu and havent been able to do anything for the past week.

I will keep up the running but i actually prefer treadmills!! So ive bought a second hand one and can run on my own in my garage with my music on as loud as I dare have it. Apparently I am strange as everyone else seems to loathe treadmills and love running outdoors!! Its just so windy all of the time up here I struggle to get my breath.

Anyway , lovely of you to enquire and good luck in the future running buddy.

love Ian
