All snow and no running makes Andrew a frustrated little boy!

Wailing and gnashing of teeth, like a dog desperate for a walk. This week has been the most frustrating of my running life with the ice and snow putting a stop to my early morning sweaty fun......!

Shortly after completing a very satisfying 10k last Friday I got the train to London for a weekend away with the wife (Kinky Boots in the West End Friday evening and Marilyn Manson at Wembley Arena on Saturday) so no Parkrun on Saturday. Sunday's journey home involved heavy snow, suspended tube lines, taxi drivers refusing to drive and missed mainline trains. Eventually back in North East Suffolk to find no snow but thick ice which lasted until Tuesday night so no prospect of any running. Wednesday was a missed alarm and this morning the snow came back in the early hours but had miraculously disappeared by the time I left for work!

With my sensible head on I've decided to call this week a wipeout and start again with my local Parkrun on Saturday. The lesson here is to NOT get too carried away and try to make up for the lost week by going out 2 or 3 days in a row, I may have been plodding the streets for a while now but I'm still very much a baby in running terms (even though I'm 48 next week!). The extra rest for my body after 6 months of 3 runs a week can only help I reckon.

I hope you've all had a good week of running, I'm not jealous, honest...............

Haha, youre talking to the woman who, in sheer deperation, ran round my house for 25 minutes this morning. My strava map looks like a tangled skein of wool. Roll on summer is all I can say ☹️

You will come back refreshed, rested and raring to go and if you are anything like me, you will have forgotten everything you have learned about pacing and start the first run way too fast...........unless you are warned, of course.

I run down in our parking garage/bunker under our apt complex since too chilly/icy outside (slushy muck turned to razor blades right now - Finland). So I'm sort of weatherproof. So remember to feel sorry for me when you are all running outside again!

I still believe that the only thing that could beat running in an underground bunker would be a spin around Silverstone or at least an aircraft carrier. Can't stop thinking about it. Very cool.
