Wk9r1 today. Felt hard at first but got better after 10 mins or so when the path levelled out. Ran a different route to my usual and found I was a bit further from home at the end of the 30 mins, so kept going for a while. This was my first run using my new Garmin FR25 watch (early Christmas present to myself!). Don’t know how accurate this is but when I saved and uploaded my run it said 34.39 mins and 3.29 miles (user error in not setting kms) but hey, that’s 5k! When I got home my son and daughter in law had just arrived and said ‘Hey, Mum - saw you out running - you were looking good’. They were probably being kind but I was so chuffed I’d actually run 5k. Looking forward to the last 2 runs of this brilliant programme and feeling more positive about the prospect of my first parkrun next Saturday.
Wk9r1 done!: Wk9r1 today. Felt hard at first but... - Couch to 5K
Wk9r1 done!
Wow, that’s some time you set there Angela, equivalent to 10’13” per mile....impressive stuff. You’re on your way girlie 🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️🏃♀️😊
Thanks, Ted! I surprised myself - just got a ‘second wind’ in the last part of the run.
Hope you have a great run today - don’t forget to post up pics, please. I’m sure it will be an emotional as well as uplifting experience. We’ll all be cheering you on from here too - hohoho- go runner - you’ll smash it! 🏃♂️🏃♂️🏃♂️
Excellent, well done! Your last week started better than mine. Less than 3 minutes into the run on Saturday I had a sharp pain in my right calf and had to hop to a standstill. I couldn't even walk home and had to call for a lift.
It's feeling better daily, so hopefully I'll be able to continue later this week.
That doesn't sound good Mike😐
RICE... rest from running, elevate the leg and Ice it (frozen peas wrapped in a towel ) don't run on it if its still painful to walk... hopefully you haven't got more than a strain but seek attention if it doesn't feel right in a few days...
Thanks Jan. I'm really fed up about it as I should have graduated by this Wednesday.
I have full movement back now without any pain, but get a twinge if I walk too fast, so I'll have to see how it goes this week and hopefully get back on track for next week.......
Sorry to hear that, Mike - that's really bad luck and disappointing. Don't take any chances though - Jan's advice sounds very sensible. A few days out now won't make any difference in the big scheme of things; best to play it safe and not rush into the next run - hope it soon feels right again.
