This morning I have finally arrived at Week 9 and although I know that this is ultimately where we all want to be, I must confess to feeling a little sad about these 3 runs being my last on the C25K program although I shall be continuing my running, it just won't be the same 😢
Anyway to the run and wow what a run!! Today I recorded just the running part of the session as I always find the first 5-10 mins hard and now I know why, I go out too fast, even though I thought I was slower than a tortoise 🐢. So Thursdays aim will be start slow and continue slow!!
I really enjoy the middle part of the run, I can't explain why, I just do, and today was no exception. Merrily singing away to myself, nodding the occasional morning to dog walkers, spotting herons and woodpeckers and just generally glad to be at peace with myself and to be outside, running. I'll admit I was a little jealous yesterday when I was walking and I saw runners and thought to myself "why can't I run today?"!!
So on I continued round the lake, through the trees, past the secondary school field, adjacent to the hospital and then the home straight was in sight!! I looked at my phone, not to see how long was left but to see how far I'd gone and it said 3.91 after 30 mins so I was a bit naughty and continued running till I hit 4km and then started my cool down walk.
4km in 31 mins!! At the start of this program I couldn't run for 1 min without thinking that my legs were going to drop off, my lungs were going to burst and I'm also sure I'd never seen a person turn the shade of red that I did!!
But here I am WK9 and I've just ran 4km in 31 mins and I am taking that one mad I'm going to bask in the glory all day and maybe tomorrow too!! So,to all the newbies, middlers or nearly therers, you can do this, you will do this!! I am living proof that hard work, determination, stubbornness, will power and inner strength will get you where you need to be.
Have a wonderful day whatever you're up to and enjoy your running. Sending running love to you all ❤️❤️❤️

I shall be on here all the time as I've come to think of you all as my family and without you I would never have got to this place in my running!! I'll be saving a spot for you on the podium GiGill 🏆🏆
Well done Kimchoc😊... its quite normal for the first 5 to 10 mins to be hard. When we start running our body needs to take on more oxygen to cope with thd exertion and it takes about 8 to 10 mins for our bloodstream to fully take this up. After that it feels much more relaxed as we are running aerobically.
Someone mentioned this on here to me, and it helped a lot to realise why starting extra slow is helpful, so you don't use up all of your oxygen and build up lactic acid before your body is ready.
Enjoy those last two week 9 runs..we are watching and cheering😊x
Lovely post! Happiness and enthusiasm oozes out of it, a joy to read. So pleased for you and all of the enjoyment it gives you. This is just the beginning!
Your post gives me something to aim for, I’m due to do run 2 of week 1 tomorrow . Looking forward to finishing it , it feels like standing at the edge of an ice cold pool before a swim at the moment. Your post is an inspiration thank you
Thank you. I was exactly the same as you at the beginning but this program and the people on here will help you get through it. If I can do it then anybody can 😊
Good luck on your journey and keep posting here to let us know how you're doing 😊
You’re brilliant!!! Well done!!? Thanks for your message it’s given me such good vibes - I’m just going to do my first week 3 run this morning - my hubbie’s car needs to go to garage 2.5 miles away so I’m gonna do my run from there to Home and see how far I get B4 the end - some of it is on the incline but then “ what goes up must come down” - unfortunately my run is not they countryside but along the busy A38 - not good for the lungs but let’s see how I do - when I walk it it usually takes me around 50 mins!!!!
At exactly the same stage, from a very similar start! Identify with your mixed feelings about nearing the finishing line...going to miss Michael Johnson saying I’m ‘doin’ great!’ and telling me to take a day off. This app has had a transforming effect on my life - fitness, diet, energy levels, are all better than they’ve been for 30 years!!
Hi Kim, so sorry I didn't congratulate you on this, for some reason I missed it. Anyway, very well done, there's a graduation badge waiting for you with your name on it!!
