Week 8

Anyone else struggle with week 8. I ran 25 minutes with relative ease but the move up to 28 minutes has been awful. Had my first failure yesterday. Just couldn't do it. Should I persevere or go back to 25 minutes?

Persevere! Just rerun that run. I slowed down a lot on my wk8r1(this morning!), just to make sure I got over the line. Interestingly, it was hard for me to slow down, but it definitely helped me.

You can do it, don’t get disheartened due to one bad run.

You will conquer next time! Go go go

Do not go backwards do the run again don’t let it beat you!!! I’m on w8r2 and making excuses myself not to run, last run was horrendous but I did it. Today I worked, collected kids, done homework am leaving one to horses, making dinner will fit the run then finish homework and tidy up but I will do it and finish it as will you. Go do it and let us know how it went. 😉

Yeah crack on🙂. You can’t win em all. If you struggle, then have a rest and then kick on again. It can mean the difference between finishing the session and not.

Good luck with the next session 👍🙂✔️

I too found the jump from 25 to 28 mins to feel massive. Had quite a few attempts and ended up stretching the week out a bit. All psychological in my case - it just felt a lot longer and harder than it was. I found telling myself I was just doing 25 helped. Then when I got to 25 I just carried on for an extra minute, then another, then another. Ended up running 30 mins for my W8R3. Once you’re over the hurdle it feels much more manageable. You can do it so don’t give up!

Ha ha brilliant! For me that’s the good thing about running outdoors and having a route. Physical markers so important.

There is not much point repeating a run that you know you can do when you still have the outstanding challenge of week 8. Have another go.

Maybe you need extra rest days with the longer runs.

Just slow down. Running further, run slower.

I too struggled with this run, first major fail of the program but as still got 2 more to do this week I will not be repeating it again. If I find that I can’t do run 3 then will continue until I can. I think my problem was psychological so am remaining positive for next run x

That's exactly it. Just felt it was impossible though I too had done first run. Thanks

Your mental support worked wonders. I did it this time. Slowly, but I got there

I thought all of week 8 was unrelentingly terrible. Every run I said "the only good thing about that is that it's over." I would highly recommend not going back to 25 minutes. Push through if you have to crawl and move on to 30 minutes. Like others said, it's probably psychological, and when you get to 30 minutes you'll be so pleased with yourself it won't feel as bad.

Yeah - Week 8 toyed with me a bit, i did Run 1 with no real problems, then took me two more attempts until i could do Run 2....so i knew i could do it, but just couldnt do it, if that makes sense!

I would just go out and try the 28 mins again. Give yourself a big positive talk and a big dose of self belief and go for it. You can do it 😀
