Hi everybody, just joined this morning and looking forward to changing my life around, ive always had low energy but for most if this year ive been treated for anaemia which doesnt sound bad but i was extremely lethargic, having fasticulations all over and had a pallor which leaved me looking like id just been dug up! Im also 2 stone overweight so whilst starting the instructor live aerobics videos im hoping to start the c25k and do the aerobics and dancing/yoga inbetween days. Ive been warned off skechers go walk as its apparently contributing to my chronic foot pain so if anyone can recommend some supportive running footwear id be very grateful.
Im new here: Hi everybody, just joined this... - Couch to 5K

Hello there
Just start small! Don’t overload your programme at the start as you’ll get too overwhelmed. To get anywhere it’s got to be fun 😃
C25k fits the bill nicely and is done nice and slowly. Do other exercise on your non run days - your exercise on telly sounds fine - But start from the beginning as they can be tough 🙂
Eat healthily ! If you are overweight and anaemic it’s clearly a priority so get your eats organised. Planning head on 😃
Report back here after each walk/jog session and you can compare notes with others on the Same week as you
Good luck 👍🙂
Go to a proper running shop and they’ll put you on a treadmill for gait analysis, consider your foot pain and make sure your shoes are spot on. Enjoy!
Hello and welcome! Best of luck to you, it can be hard to make changes sometimes but the C25k programme is great and so are the folk on this forum 😁 Yoga and dance on non running days sounds good.
Welcome.
That sounds like a comprehensive plan.
Be ready to have extra rest days as you need them. Your stamina will build noticeably, but so do the demands.
Start off in any shoes you have, but if you get to week four, you need to think about proper running shoes and follow the advice of JoanneBrown and get a gait analysis done at a specialist running shop, otherwise you risk making a costly mistake in buying shoes that may not be appropriate for your running style and could cause permanent damage.
My favourite shoes might cripple you, so recommendation is worthless.
Keep posting your progress.
I have just done my first run, but my daughter who started from nothing and finally ran a marathon wouldn't let me run until I had proper shoes. She took me to Runners Needs in London Victoria where the most helpful assistant gauged what I needed. I said I didn't want to pay full price at the moment, but they had shoes in the sale online. There are other shops online that do great discounts so I paid less than for an ordinary pair of trainers. I am told you have to have the right shoes to run comfortably and safely.
