W7R2 - Only gone and done it ....

Well, that wasn't easy, but then none of them are.

Decided to do an 'Out and Back' route that I planned on MapMyRun, seems like a useful little tool, strangely enough I've been called that myself ;-) but I digress, organised my run so that I start from home with my 5 minute walk, do my run (out and back), and 5 minute cool down should get me home ... and its not by accident that the five minute walk is all up hill ....

Will I was within 50m of where I mapped my start to be, 5 minutes at 6km/h = 500m I managed 450m going up hill, but was well and truly warmed up ...

"ok It's time to run ..." set MapMyRun going and my Fitbit tracker app and I was off ... steady away, and as you can see by the route, nothing complicated ... more or less dead straight ... plod, plod, plod, but the nice lady on MapMyRun kept telling me my intervals were 6:20/6:22, that's about 9.4km/h, what the heck was I doing .... Grrr ... slow down ...

Managed to get it slowed down at the bell, time to turn around, really annoying gradient for about 1.5km barely perceptible, only tired legs could have spotted it ... keep going ...

5 minutes to go, legs were a bit tired, that last minute "increase your speed, finish on a high ..." err ... no ... the bell went, time to stop ... couldn't control my feet, flap, flap, flap, it was as if some bone thief had stolen every bone below my knees ... there is a little junction on the cool down walk back, and its a little sharp down hill section .... good job there was no traffic, because I was not stopping ... couldn't I'd god the momentum and I was powerless to fight against it ....

Managed to get home without being run-over, got some fluids into me, had a shower, a cuppa and a banana, and here I am telling the tale .... I feel fine now, fair enough, I'm not capable of running to the loo, but I'm good. Looking forward to Friday and putting Week 7 to bed ...

I hope everyone else is completing their objectives this week ...

Well done you...keep it slow and steady as you move on :)

Thanks Oldfloss I'm trying to go slow, but as I said in another post, it must just be my natural cadence / pace, I'm not unhappy about it, so long as I don't run out of juice ....

Fine.. your body will tell you when to pull back if necessary. I always start off too quickly, especially on my longer runs!

Well done Christene ...that’s a fine run...some hard some easy...but you nailed it, even though it wasn’t easy...but who said it was??? If it were easy we wouldn’t be pushing ourselves enough so there’s always gonna be tough runs....tick that one off with a big tick & a smile

Thanks Mummycav I do worry about the pace, but I've run at that speed all the way through, will just have to carry on, and crack 5K at the same time as the 30 mins :-)

Well done, great run..!! Rest well (and stay close to the loo) 😉

...and how the hell are you doing that distance in that time...??? 😱 I'm never going running with you... I don't like eating dust 😳

That’s why I said I had to try and slow down, MapMyRun said I was doing split times that equate to 9.5km/hr, too fast for just now... at least treadmill was regulated ...

My anger fuelled rocket run yesterday really needed some regulation too 🙄

Thanks Sandraj39 I do try to run slower, but it must be my natural cadence/ pace. I’m not unhappy about it, though I do worry I’ll run out of juice ... 😕

Not happened yet though 😊
