Not sure if it was psychological but that was the hardest one yet for me. Wasn't my usual route to be fair although I did it last week for the two 10 minute runs and managed ok. Normal route is flat and this has inclines so every time I got to a hill I really struggled and had to walk a bit. Anyone else find this an issue when changing routes for a more challenging one? Hoping it's a one off and I can overcome it! Felt I've been doing so well up to now.

The inclines are a ruiner, but the more you do them the better and easier they become, as I have found on my journey I've just run the last run today on week 9 and it was on flat and found it relatively easy as I'm used to running inclines and declines. Stick with the hills they'll benefit you in the long run 👍

Also I get how changing route also throws you but again that's not a bad thing to do either something else I've worked on my travels ☺️

Thanks for that, I'll keep at it in that case and try not to be too disheartened by this one. Congrats to you on your last run, must be a huge sense of achievement to complete the course, well done 😊👍

It genuinely is an amazing feeling and you'll be there before you know it! I'm so excited for the next step too after today. I put a post on about being disappointed on here and so many people were so nice and reassuring. It's nice to be the person reassuring someone else. ☺️

I agree, there are so many supportive people on here and it boosts you when you have a bad run for whatever reason. And amazing to hear what everyone has achieved. Good luck with the running from here!

Hey Marcella, don’t be disheartened. We all have one or more not so good runs and we all bounce back. Sounds like the hills threw you a bit. Slow right down and take baby steps. You’ll get accustomed to them with time. 💪

But well done! Not much longer until your time on the podium! 👏👏

Thanks cheekychipmunks, I'm pretty sure it was the hills so I just need more practice with them. My weekday runs are close to home and all flat round me so will make an effort to drive out to the hillier parts I think. Thanks for the encouragement 😊

I had exactly the same issue with my wk7r2 last week. Changed my route and never got into my stride and I really struggled. Went back to my normal run and smashed run 3 though! I was told hills build strength but they really hurt!!! Good luck with the rest of wk7 👍🏻

Thanks embobs, I guess we just have to push out of our comfort zone occasionally. The route I did today is what I need to run in 4 weeks for a 5km event so I would like to get more used to it. Good luck to you for finishing the course soon too, not too long to go!
