Mr Smooth and the foxes for company I set off on my way in the dark. I always find the first run most difficult. Is this because I am getting my breathing right and getting settled? Not sure but I completed the run and am feeling that I am achieving something. I am starting to feel good about myself, those endorphins are being released. Last run of week 4 planned for Tuesday morning. Have a great day ππ»ππ¦

Very well done... the breathing often needs a short settle down period, particularly early morning. This is why, from end of October on, I have my Buff ready for stopping the cold air
You are getting wonderfully closer to the longer runs now and you are going to love them/
A run and foxes too.. what a perfect start to your day
Thank you. I'm enjoying it so far. How do you get on with early morning runs when the weather is colder and there are icy conditions? Is it safe to go out then? Worried about that because early mornings fit in with the rest of my lifestyle. Busy working all day and taking my teenagers to sports commitments in the evening and weekend days
Well... I did C25K and Graduated the week before Christmas 2015, and many of my runs were in the dark, and a tad chilly
The only time I and many of us don't run, is when the conditions are icy. It is far too dangerous... I was lucky enough last year to get a cross trainer, which can be used then.
Apart from that.....I have my normal compression leggings on, unless really cold, and wore then, thermal ones...a long sleeved top, a light warm jacket, a thermal beanie hat, running gloves, and my faithful Buff!
You can take stuff off if too warm, but at least you are warm I did every one of my runs early and still do..it is a great start to the day and I have to say, the weeks leading up to Christmas, in the darkness of winter mornings, were absolutely magical
Thank you for the advice. I think I can handle the cold with extra layers but am worried about ice so maybe a cross trainer or treadmill is the key. I might need some tips on which type to get as they vary so much in price and quality. I don't want to fall behind because if the weather
Well done you! You're doing great! The first run of the week is usually my slowest, but then each week gets harder. It's difficult to get breathing to settle while still running intervals. Mine settled at the end of W5 and for the first time I felt comfortable. I tense my grip and shoulders at the beginning of a run, so I have to sort that out and remember to empty my lungs properly every time. After I've done the first hill on my route, I'm usually settled into the run (and gasping for more oxygen!!). That always sorts my breathing out! πππ
Well done, early morning runs can be so exhilarating and set you up for the day. Plus you had π¦ foxes to keep you company.
I always find the first bit of running is where I'm settling into my legs and lungs , then I find my rhythm and feel more comfortable. You just keep going through those first few minutes slowly and steadily and it will set you up for the rest of the run.
