Is W6R1 really that tricky?

I was expecting an easy run after W5R3 the shorter runs with walking intervals looked simple after a 20 min run But now not so sure after reading other posts!! πŸ˜”

I found that I got into my stride about 5 mins into the runs after W5R3, slowing to a walk a few mins later just seemed odd... the R2 is better (2*10min), R3 better still at a 25min run. Starting W7 today πŸƒ

No, it isn't. It just seems odd to be walking in between the runs after you have run for 20 minutes straight W5 R3. But it does build up your confidence for the 25 minute run at the end of the week. Thereafte,r in W7 & 8, it's all continuous running. So I felt weeks 5 & 6 are the preparation and crossover weeks to the sustained running we're all aiming for. Good luck and stay positive!

No..it seems to up-end a few folk, but, as with every other run..if you take it steady and slow, there is no problem.

Don't let other posts put you off.. you are going to be just fine:) I loved the longer runs from here on in :)

These longer runs are where your newly found running legs start to take over... start slow and stay slow.. relax into the run, breathing gently!

Slow is DEFINITELY the way for me!

Just do em as laid down and move on to the next. If you go slow enough you'll nail them πŸ‘πŸ™‚

I agree with what everyone else has said! I've just done W6R1 this morning....with a cold and cough....and it was fine because I went super slow to begin with so didn't tire myself out. Good luck, you can do it!

To be honest I found it easier than expected (perhaps because I was expecting a killer after reading other posts!) but like others, found the walking intervals odd and, if anything, a bit annoying after finding a good pace (although I am well aware there is a place for walking intervals in training at any level).

I think there is possibly also a feeling of anti-climax after the glow of W5R3.

I think the advice above is spot on. Follow it and you'll be fine ;)
