Was tentatively looking forward to today's run, being able to run a full 25 minutes non stop. Sadly though, a mere 12 minutes into the run, I could run no more. Despite the voice in my head telling me "don't stop you can do this, you've done 20 minutes before" I just couldn't carry on and had to power walk the rest of the run.
I was running on the treadmill and sweating buckets today, it's quite muggy I suppose. I'm just so disappointed in myself, this is the first time I've not completed one of my runs.
I'm going to try again tomorrow but if it's hot again I think I'll leave it until the evening and see how it goes.
Very dissapointed 😕

Claire, I was like this during week 6. I kept going out and getting puffed out within about two minutes and mentally kept telling myself I couldn’t do it. I then decided to slow myself right down. My jogging pace is probably the same speed as a fast walk. Especially for the first couple of minutes to get my breathing regular and into a pace. Then I find myself naturally speeding up. Today just completed run 1, week 7 and feel great and actually enjoyed it. Again keeping my pace very slow to begin. Keep trying, you can do it. Ed Sheeran helped 😊
Hello! Most people have some sort of dodgy run at some point, if not more than one. One of mine was this one, as I recall.
First things first - you even identified a reason that it wasn't great, it was hideously muggy yesterday! Secondly, 12 minutes is still 12 minutes in the running bank. Thirdly, since you ran 12 minutes, which is still loads (remember that only 5-6 weeks ago (or more depending on how you've done the programme) you were just starting running with 8 x 1 minute), I'd set tomorrow as a rest from running and try again the next day at least.
You'll carry on just fine and you'll get the bonus "achievement" of learning that you can come back after an iffy run
