Hi. I ran yesterday W7R1. Today I woke up with knee pain and some clicking in my knee when I was walking. The clicking didn't last long but it's still hurting. My job inquires me to walk and I did 5 hours walking today. I'm due my next run tomorrow.

First, if the pain persists after 48 hours, see a sports physician. I made the mistake of seeing my GP when I sprained my ankle who simply told me to wrap it and stay off of it for 6 weeks. For my IT Band Syndrome I saw my current chiro who told me how much to run, at what pace and how often as well as prescribing different stretches to do which got me to the point that I was able to complete 12 out of the 13.1 miles for a half marathon. He has been able to get me through every injury so far. For you, until your next run, "RICE" it! Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation. There are plenty of posts on this forum where other members have suffered from knee pain. The clicking probably went away after the knee joint started to get lubricated and warmed up. Before you do your run, be sure to do plenty of stretches, especially for the knee, and take it easy. If it starts to hurt stop immediately. I know it sucks but its better to go less distance instead of causing real damage. All runners should also be doing some form of strength training to build the supporting tissue around the knee and ankle joints. Good luck and keep running!

You don't want to run with any pain or clicking sounds coming from that joint. I did, I ignored it all, I ploughed on, I though it was irrelevant.

Then towards the end of the run, the pain, sharp pain stopped me there and then. And then the swelling. And then the Vampire Physio who takes ''all major cards, cheques or cash''. And then 3 months off running.

If any pain, go and see a physio or an osteopath before running again, unless the pain simply stops and you feel comfy again. Then run slowly and wait for any signals. You will recognise them instantly.

All the best of luck!
