Knee Pain

I’ve really hurt my knee and finding running difficult. Today I ended walking back home. I was very disappointed. Has anyone else have this happen and how long is recovery and any tips to what exercise I can do until I’m running again. I cycle to work 4 times a week and do full body workout twice a week. So something else would be good to replace running for now 😔

We are not medical experts.. but..if the knee is really painful, then go and get it checked out:)

Best not too do any other exercise until you know what is happening?

I was running 5k 3 times a week until I hurt my knee. 8 weeks later and still not able to run properly. Physio gave me exercises to strengthen knee muscles to protect it, very frustrating.

hiya,

I hurt my back moving things when I was on w6, I hobbled back from r2. Literally.

I was hoping I would somehow manage it, but didn't. I took 3weeks off from running, did some yoga instead but I did panic that i would lose momentum and not get back into it.

When I began again I started from w4, but graduated last week. Yay!

Sounds like you have plenty on fitness wise, perhaps you can ease up on the running for now? Might swimming be worth a try?

Good luck, sounds like you are a 'doer', so I am sure you will get there :-)

Thank you for your advise. I’m so annoyed because it was through work I hurt my knee. I thought about yoga. Just so worried I’ll slip back into my lazy old ways. Feel so much better about myself since starting running. Lost weight and inches. Worried it will all go back on if I stop.

I’m in the same boat. Hurt my knee last Saturday doing W5R3. I’ve rested this week but it’s still no better. I will try get a doctors appointment next week. Someone told me cycling is good for cartridge damage ( assuming that’s what’s coursing it) as, it strengthens leg muscle. I might get the cobwebs off my bike and give it ago next week.

I cycle to work everyday and I think it does help with sore knees. I’ve been off work this week so haven’t been on my bike but I know it will help when I’m back on it. You should definitely give it a go

I will give it ago. At the minute it’s painful when I walk. I was walking around 5k on my rest days but couldn’t even do that at the minute. Gutted I was hoping to graduate by the end of the school holidays. Not looking too promising at the moment.

I know exactly how you feel. I can barely walk and as for stairs, that’s a nightmare. I’ve just ordered a rowing machine in the hope I can still do some exercise. Since starting running and a healthy diet, I’ve lost weight and inches. I’m scared I become a couch potato again !!

Never thought I’d enjoy running so much. I invented £120 in running shoes end of W4 only got to run in them twice. Funny enough the guy in the shop said I run with my knees really close together and my hips aren’t in line with my feet. Wondering if this might be the course of all my knee problems.

I bought running shoes too. They feel so different to regular trainers. Maybe when you get back to running try and concentrate on keeping your knees further apart. Tomorrow is when my next run would be due and I know I will be gutted because I won’t be able to go. It’s very addictive. Damn this old age
