Hi all, I've just signed in and looking for support and encouragement. I'm on Week 4, Run 1 and I can say it still is pretty hard work....but I did it. Does it get easier?! I hope so! I'm still waiting for the addiction that everyone tells me will come at some point!!
Saying hello!: Hi all, I've just signed in and... - Couch to 5K
Saying hello!
Hi, and welcome and well done for getting this far. I've just completed week 4, second run was easier I had more idea how to pace it. I get a buzz after I've completed a run which turns into apprehension the next day in anticipation of the next run.
Thank you! I guess I just kept thinking "there is no way I can do this!" but I did, so I know that I can and hope the next one will be easier.
Hi, welcome to the forum. I must admit that I still don't find it easy, although I can now run for 30 minutes which seemed absolutely impossible 10 weeks ago!!
I have found that I am determined to keep running and am even getting organised with gear for the cold/wet weather that is surely coming!!
Keep coming back for support, encouragement and laughs!!
Hi there, I've just completed week 5 run 1 and I'm slightly dreading the long run at the end of this week, but every week is a new challenge which I really look forward to! I really hope that I can a) complete the programme, and b) keep up with it afterwards! Keep us posted on your progress
Welcome to the forum and congrats on getting this far!!!!!!! It's a fab place here for advice and guidance and encouragement. I found the real addiction kicked in about week 6....I could start to see the end goal and also the 'runners high' people talked of started with the longer runs. Keep going, you'll do great!
I'm just waiting for the day I enjoy running too!
Well done for getting into Week 4 - yes it will get easier, and yes, you will find yourself getting addicted!!
(In fact the addiction then feeds itself - because you want to run, you find yourself running further and further...and even looking forward to it!!!)
Thanks everyone! I'm enjoying it but its still very hard. Does anyone ever repeat a week when they feel like it might be too hard to move on, or is the advice to keep progressing and only repeat if you fail to complete a run?
You've come to the right place Pisces. We have all been there or are all still working our way through C25k and we all take great pleasure in hearing about other's progress because we can identify completely with the highs and, lets admit it, the lows that running can bring. Lots of folk feel they have to repeat a week for a huge variety of reasons and that is often the most sensible course to take. I think most of us still find running hard at times, but I can run for 20 mins without any struggle and I hope that to be the same for every 5k that I run, as my body gets more used to the demands. 10 weeks ago the one minute runs were hard work for me.
Trust the progression of the scheme. Stretch after runs. Don't run too fast. Accept the challenge and you will surprise yourself. Most importantly, keep posting so we can share your fantastic journey. Good luck.
I'm about to do W4R1 tonight, and I'm already finding myself wishing it was a run day! This is my second go at doing the C25K I nearly injured myself last time from wearing the wrong trainers, enjoying it much more this time and am signing up for a local 5k run before Christmas! Here's to us doing it for ourselves!!
