Week 5 run 1

What a way to start the weekend. I had a new playlist loaded on my phone, the sun was shining and the wind dropped to almost nothing.

I've looked forward to going out for my runs up to now but this was the first time I was actually looking forward to the running sections of the workouts. I think today I actually experienced what others have described as a rhythm that feels comfortable and that you could keep to. I felt I could have kept running beyond the first 5 min block which I think is good. Mind you I managed to find a fairly steep hill to climb in the second 5 min block so that was tough but I found counting backwards from 100 got me to the top without giving up and dropping back to a walk. Another great tip I learned on here 🤗.

The last 5 min block felt good and I was almost ready to set off on another one at the end of the 5 min cool down walk.

I'm hoping this are all good signs for what is to come later in the week.

I've already picked my route for run 3 as I want to find somewhere a bit flatter to give myself the best chance of finishing the week as good as it's started.

Good luck to everyone who is on their own journey along side me. Your inspirational posts keep me believing in myself.

Not sure what I see in my map today but pleased to have kept running up those hills!

Your experience is very similar to mine! It sounds like you're doing really well. Good luck for run 3, in fact we've trained for this, we can do it, so luck is not involved!! I've also planned my w5r3 which comes on Tuesday. All the best, let us know how you get on :-)

Thank you. The last 5 min run was downhill from about mid point as was the 5 min warmdown walk so I had a huge grin on my face from about 8 mins out lol.
