Evening all.

Sorry for disturbing your rest in front of a PC or TV screen. Just thought I would give you a few thoughts and comments on my run at 0640 this morning.

As always with a new longer time to run I am anxious and over the two days rest had been mulling it over. As before I had to force myself out of the front door stirred on by all your marvellous achievements and did not want to fail.

I should point out at this stage that there are no failures here as even taking an interest in self health improvement is a win win.

Off I went just with my two apps and MJ to reassure me. No music today as my headphones don't work and I thought it was too noisy at 0640 to have music blaring out of my phone.

The run on Saturday nearly killed me as I went off way to fast and was out of control before three KM were up. Because of this when instructed by MJ to today I settled myself into a slow and comfortable jog. 5 minutes in and having already had a split time from one of the apps MJ reassures me that all is well and that I only have 23 minutes more to do! OMG.

No panic though just head down and concentrate on the next intervention which would be at 14 minutes. This came and went. I find this point actually really confidence boosting as I am then able to break down the rest of the run into segments. This lets me know that I have already done it and if I can get to the next segment then surely I can do the remaining.

When the call for 5 minutes remaining came up I was tired however the realisation that I could do 28 was staring me in the face. In fact for the last 2 minutes I upped my pace subconsciously and drove myself confidently to the end.

Job done but caution to the wind, no over confidence! Two more runs this week Thursday and Bushy Park 5K on Saturday.

Some may remember that I have had some issues with my stomach and side, so on Friday I am having an ultrasound. Hopefully the pain I have been having will only be the result of my wallet being prised from me. Further to this I am actually having some minor surgery tomorrow which as it is routine will I hope go well.

Advice needed?

For the run on Saturday should I change anything at all in my preparation? Do I need to feed up on something more on Friday night?

Generally for what I have been doing so far I have made no changes. My diet now is very well controlled and I am averaging around 975KC per day. I keep a chart of what I have had each day.

I have lost now 16 KG since starting C2 5K.

Sorry to go on.

Keep on running........

Keep going. You are doing great.

No need to change diet for parkrun, it is only a five k run.

Have a great time. It is a brilliant movement.

Keep running, keep smiling.

There's one problem with this site - I'm running out of ways to say well done to people.

Impressed with the running and the commitment to the weight loss too. Your doing a brilliant life changing thing - keep it up, and see you in the Graduate circle in a week or so's time.

tackling my first Park Run on Saturday at the end of week 8 - and the fact your also doing one at this stage - has spurred me on - Good Running.

16kg lost -- now THAT is something! I may have lost a couple, no more.

Forgive me if I have read this wrong, but are you only eating 975 calories per day???

I am writing down and recording weekly what I eat yes.

Are you doing that under medical advice/supervision because that sounds terribly low to me? I always thought that 1500 was the low limit for men, and if you are building muscle through running you do need to watch having too low a calorie intake. Sorry if I sound like I am nagging/interfering or speaking out of turn. I'm just concerned. Take care.
