Under the weather

I'm in my early 60s and really enjoying the programme. I've done Week 5 Day 2 and was getting a bit uptight about a 20 minute run as I had a slight touch of tendon pain/discomfort in one leg. So I decided to take a few days off to be on the safe side. Now I've developed a chill with sore throat etc so I expect I'll be laid up for a while. I'm wondering what to do when I get back to the programme : should I play it by ear and see how it goes? I'll probably be out of action for 8 or 9 days in all. I'm really enjoying my new level of fitness :I really wasn't ready for hobbledy old age--not just yet. I'm pretty healthy, thank God, and I'm not overweight. Knees are slightly dodgy betimes and, strange to say, I find the jogging easier than the walking! Thanks for all the tips and help, and for a wonderful programme too.

Resting up when ill is frustrating but the wisest thing to do. You won't lose any condition after a break of that length, so you could try coming back to W6R1, which on paper is way easier than W5R3 that you have just conquered. It involves a walking interval. but it does have a reputation for tripping people up after the elation of W5R3. Being prewarned and approaching it with caution......go slow.......you will probably be fine.

Get well soon.

W5 Day 3 not conquered yet -it was next up! I'll probably repeat Week 4 and take it from there. I'm in no great hurry, so I'll see how that goes. I love the feeling of fitness and agility though. In the meantime there's Series 3 of Bloodline. Every cloud has a Netflix lining! Thank you for your reply and your encouragement. Best wishes.

Sorry, I misread you. Probably another wise decision, wise runner.

be kind to yourself and rest up... the runs will still be there... when you do head out, as IannodaTruffe suggests... be aware and take it as slowly as you care too :)

Yes indeed. I'm on the ropes for now - thankfully it's mainly from this cold/chill I've developed.Thank you.
