Basically lazy.

I've just started the C25K programme after my eldest daughter completed her first half marathon. She's enjoying running so much I thought I'd have to give it a try to see what it's all about. She's a nurse in the NHS and recommended I try the C25K programme. I'm 65 and cycle daily, but never thought I'd start running at my age because I'm basically lazy, but I'm feeling so good already that I know I'll complete the programme. I've even gone out and bought some running gear.. who'd have thought. :)

That's how it starts. Everyone is lazy to make that first step, but once you're in, you're hooked. 😀

Who indeed...? So,you have got the gear...all you do now is head out!

Welcome to this wonderful programme. support, encouragement and friends everywhere..:)

The advice is, and you will hear this so many times...slow and steady. Rest days are so important too, but cycling, and other exercise on rest days is fine:)

Looking forward to your first running post :}

PS

Many of us more mature runners on here too... :)

That's the way I've done it with my cycling, going at a pace which is comfortable to me. For the running I think it was just a case of the time being right, and C25K is the ideal guide for starters like myself.

It is, truly amazing...

My Nan used to say.,"..more haste, less speed"...so, along with slow and steady wins the race...it is, for many, many of us the way to go :)

I started last year when I was 65...graduated just before Christmas... it is a terrific programme :)

Good for you! So glad you have seen the light. Your daughter is truly inspirational so now you too can have a piece of the action. It's fun!

Many of us here have gone from the couch and are now running marathons and halves, preparing for ulltra runs and doing all manner of healthy shenanigans such as iron man! (See Rig 😊)

It gets a bit addictive though ☺ i was 56 when I got off the couch, and have found racing to be such a hoot that I now can't stop.

Good luck. Go slowly, slowly!
