I just can't believe my bad luck. I'm trying to get back into running after my break of about 5 weeks. I just started with the first run of the C25K programme on Saturday. I felt a bit like I had a virus coming on and the start of an earache, which stopped me running on Monday.
So now I have a throbbing ear which according to the nurse is an ear canal infection, and I'm on antibiotics for the second time in as many months.
I'm just so gutted right now.
I'm also really nervous about a trip I'm having to hospital on Saturday to investigate a heart murmur. My worst fear is that I'll be told not to run. I only discovered I enjoyed running two years ago, I don't want to lose it ππ
I'll let you all know the outcome next week π
I'll be thinking of all of you out there enjoying the winter sunshine as I clutch my blanket and hot water bottle π

So sorry about your ear RuthMargaret, just hope the antibiotics can help and the heart murmur isn't too bad.
I remember way back in 1995 I got a I am sure a heart murmur of something similar after sprinting to get a bus, this was about 8.30 am, it lasted most of the day, luckily I was mostly sitting down that day, but when I got off the bus after work at about 4.30 pm I could hardly walk up the short hill between the bus stop and my home, sat down on the sofa and was about to ask my wife to phone the doctor when suddenly the murming of whatever it was stopped and the breathlessness that I had had all day also finished, there was no need to phone for the doctor but it did teach me never again to run so quickly for a bus.
That murmuring has never recurred, even when I was sprinting after a few runs when I was doing C25K, especially at the end of run 3 of week 5 and at the end of of run 3 of week 9.
Just hope you recover as quickly as I did and you can resume your runs ASAP.
Thank you. This murmur isn't something I was actually aware of. I'd had a reaction to some antibiotics (which I was on as a result of a running-induced infected knee injury). As I was alone at the time, they sent a paramedic out to me, who gave me a thorough MOT. He casually said, while listening to my heart "did you know you have a heart murmur?" Ummm... No?!
Apparently it wasn't something I needed to worry about, but the appointment came through quite swiftly from the hospital for it to be investigated. And of course since he said that to me, I've noticed a fluttering in my chest on several occasions and realised I've been noticing a bit of a feeling for a long time, but of course I'm hyper-aware of it now!
