After having to take a week off due to knee killing me, I am back on the trail and loving it again. Took lots of precautions this time, deep heat gel, knee support, massage stick to help with warmup. (Doctor gave me the all clear to go) .The run was good felt my knee complain a little but was fine. Returned after run to massage stick again and RICE. Feeling good so far. So glad to be back again.

Don't forget to keep mobile (it is now MICE not RICE now) while elevating your knee. Only needs to be gentle movement, enough not to get stiff. I also prefer NSAID (non-steroid anti-inflammatory) gels (ibuprofen or Voltarol) to deep heat (heat then ice seems illogical). Admit never used a massage stick sounds interesting.

I am loving the massage stick. Used before and after felt fantastic.

I just got a massage stick to help with my pulled muscles in my back (overdid it in a yoga class and has put the kybosh on running for the moment). Massage stick helped me get up this morning for the first time without running for the ibuprofen!

Have just tried it on the soles of my feet. It's amazing! It feels like you're walking on air afterwards! For just 10 quid seems like a great investment.

Never thought to use on my feet will try that.

Hey Troyski! Glad to read you're fine now but please let me know what happened to your knee initially (mine are made of fine glass). I try to pick up as many tips as possible, a minor tweak nearly a year ago took me off the track for three months although my doc thought I would be fine. I'm alright now but I prepare for each run as if I'm running at the Olympics, just in case ;)

Keep well!

Mine was sore tendons just below inside knee. Lots of rest and ice. Before run took lots of preparation. The massage stick was fantastic before and after. As for the run I took it easy even though I wanted to increase my pace. I think I will do a day rest then next run then leave 2 day rest before third run. Just trying to find whats right for me. The advice I hear from everyone here is trust your body. And also see Doctor :

Sounds good! Always listen to little alarm bells, go slow & never push through pain :) All the best!
