Hi everyone! So, I started C25k 3 weeks ago, but it took 2 weeks to complete week 2 due to a slight knee injury. So last night I did run 1 of week 3. I must admit, I was a little daunted when I saw I would be running for 3 minutes! I had read a few posts in here yesterday to determine others feelings on it. But, after waiting 5 days to start this week (last run was Wednesday as had to give knee's extra recovery time) I was excited to test out my new running shoes. What a difference they made!
So, my old shoes were Asics Kayano 16, I didn't feel I had used them that much and I do remember paying through the nose for them.... but when I Googled them they were released in 2010, and I know I got the new spring summer colour at the time!! Wow, who knew it was that long ago since I last took any form of exercise seriously.... but in that time since then I have gotten married, had my daughter in 2012 and then had my son last year. Time does fly when you're having fun and sleepless nights.
The difference in the feel of my new shoes was amazing, they are the same level of support as my old but it is clear that my old ones have lost that support they came with. I felt like I was running on little orange clouds! As you can see, they aren't hard to miss!
The first 90 second run was a little hard on the knee's, but then the 3 minute run... well it was a breeze! The final 3 minute run left me way too far from home as I totally over estimated the distance I would be doing, I hadn't realised that it works out to quite a short session overall. It took me a good 10 minutes to walk home after the cool down had finished. Tomorrow I think I will go out and then turn around at the bell rather than aim for a circuit.
I do find it funny though that I did seem to bump in to the same guy on 2 of the walking stints, he must look at me and wonder why I am in running gear only to be walking *he was running on both occasions*. I also found myself holding my head up high and proud when I ran past 3 super slim teenage girls out walking their dog, and then ran past again on the final 3 minute session... I think out of the 2, I was happier running past the much younger and slimmer girls than I was the running man.
Overall I have to say I am mega chuffed with my little self. I am positive that I can even see a difference in my figure too. Now, the next new purchase will be some new running tights, but I need to set myself a target to reach to have them as a reward. The trainers were a medical requirement, the tights I am not sure I can use that as an excuse for...

Love those sexy trainers, I actually ended up introducing myself to my regular 'running mates' to explain that it was a plan and I wasn't being lazy..... I read somewhere here that one of our running crew saves a £1 for every km run, so that is a runners kit fund. Can't remember who it was, but such a good idea a running piggy bank, that gets topped up every time you go out! Well done you on progress.
Sorry for delay, out and about. Back to scorchio it's now 29 degrees, which is bizarre as the Adriatic Courier (our local rag) had pics of beaches covered in hailstones. Utterly bizarre. Good luck next time out and squeeze as much cash out if your husband as you can. Just think of that lovely squeaky clean running gear.
Love this, & your choice of colours! Reading this has reminded me of the absolute excitement & pride that seems to come with this amazing programme. It's contagious isn't it? 😀
It really is. I'm slightly worried about the rain today for my run tonight. One because I'm worried about being cold. And secondly because my trainers will get dirty 😂😂
Aww no really? The rain just isn't stopping here today at all. But then I live in Manchester where it always rains so I guess I need to make sure I still go otherwise when it gets to autumn I'll never get out at all x
It's heart-breaking when we inevitably get our new trainers wet & dirty. Part of my usual route was flooded one time & as I was pushing a buggy at the time, I had no choice but to run through it. Dirty water in my lovely bright pink trainers. I felt terrible. I think I ran a fait faster afterwards as I wanted to dispel the water but was also angry! I even phoned the council afterwards to complain about the flooded path! Serious stuff this lol.
Go girl! How fabulous. I know exactly what you mean. I'm on week 2 and told someone at work today I'm doing it and they didn't laugh or give me that yeah right look. Feels great doesn't it. 😊
