Morning all, sat waiting for the rain to ease before going out for a run π.Does anyone know of a good waterproof/breathable top at a reasonable price to wear that actually breathes?

Rain stops play.
Oooh, I love going for a run in the rain....I always get a PB in the rain! I have a lightweight Karrimor running jacket - it was about Β£20 from Sports Direct - not sure exactly how waterproof it is though as I sweat so much! π¬π
I ran in the rain, then did the school run in my wet gear. Not too many people laughed at me βοΈ
Running in the rain is one of the greatest gifts running gives us. Plus it makes you feel epic πͺπͺπͺ
This time of year - just shorts and top is sufficient as it is warm, although I am still waiting for a rainy run - maybe tonight?
I have the Karrimor one. It was a birthday present. I also have a hooded one from Aldi which I wear all much of the time, raining or not. I tie it round my waist and pop it on if it rains, or post run for my walk home. It was Β£6.99 I got a cap at the same time for Β£3.99
I also recommend a cheap one. Not that I took that advice - I read reviews, browsed, contemplated, thought, read some more, and finally splashed a small fortune on a test-winner from OMM. It's fine. Not heavy. Good hat with a peak to stop rain on my glasses. But when I sweat heavily I still get wet, and when it's pouring down I still get wet. So I'm not convinced it was worth the money.
I love running in the rain too, ok, not so much if it's absolutely hammering, but, it's a joy. I've got a couple of light jackets, not really 'waterproof' more 'showerproof' - I think that's the most you can hope for, if it's breathable too - but are ok to keep me relatively dry - apart from getting sweaty underneath....I'm not overly bothered to wear one to be honest, once you're wet, you're wet and at the moment you're not at a great risk of getting cold (in the UK)
My best bit of gear for the rain is a peaked cap - I wear specs, and it's great for keeping the rain off the old windscreens π
I've used my rain jackets in the winter, over other layers and often ended up taking it off and tying round my waist. I've found an under layer (long sleeve wicking top) with a normal running shirt over the top just perfect, with an occasional (if it's very cold - under 6 degrees) running fleece jacket - but that usually ends up coming off....
My jackets are from Karrimor and More Mile, and one that was freebie from running a 10k series (Hoohaah) the More Mile one is very light.
Hope you find something that suits...

Thank you all, so it looks like a case of embrace the elements whilst it is still warm.
