Well, I've joined all you lovely runners sitting on the injury couch. A raised drain cover with a bit of pavement missing around the corner of it, and over I went....sprained shoulder, grazed and bruised elbows and knees, and a nastily turned ankle. My foot has blown up like a balloon and is all colours...no photos, no need for that...
The sad thing is, I have 2.2 KM left on my Conqueror Bangkok challenge, I was looking forward to knocking that off today with a NRC intervals run. Never mind, it will wait for me....
Have fun HU-ers, have a run for me.

Oh no!!! A similar thing happened to me 18 months ago. Foot verses drain cover equals an and e. You absolutely have my sympathy. Sending massive virtual hugs and best wishes for your recovery ❤️🩹
Thank you MissU.. I've had a few of these trips, so getting used to them now! Unfortunately my local A & E is not exactly local, I reckon if I can walk on it, it isn't broken (famous last words!)
Oh no CG, no fair!. It's too easy to tumble. Hopefully ypu will heal fast and be back out there soon. In the meantime enjoy the rest and maybe do some race research while you wait. Sending very best wishes for a speedy recovery.
Thank you Linda, I always feel I am the only one that has these trips but of course it could happen to anyone. I've got Race For Life to look forward to, that's always a nice little race.
Having fallen on the canal towpath and bitten through my lip plus scrapes and bruises; and fallen in the woods and smashed my two front teeth, injured my hand (that took months to heal) and even bruised my boobs! - I know you're not the only one. Sadly.
Oh bless you! This is not my first fall either... I've fallen down the stairs 2 or 3 times, tripped on nothing at all and sprained the other ankle, and tripped on another drain cover during lockdown. That was a bad one, I mashed my glasses into my face, split my lip, got a black eye... people were just stepping over me.. eventually two plain clothes police officers stopped and helped. I had to go to hospital for that one. They glued my eyebrow together, I didn't know that was possible.
I have Meniere's Disease, a nasty little condition that affects balance and causes dizzy spells, I reckon that's most of the problem. Usually I'm not even running when I fall.
what a pain, I hope you recover quickly. If you haven't already done so, it might be worth reporting the drain cover to the local council's highways department so they can get it sorted.
