Well done Louise! You look very happy and healthy which is what I am hoping for when I eventually achieve what you have done today.
It wasn't planned and I wasn't feeling it when I set out but after the second 5 min run I just kept going. Got fight Klub tonight so I may well die ππ
Well done and what a time, I am not going to make you laugh with my W4R3 stats, let's just say you could make a cup of tea with the difference...
Well done, still smiling too!
I'm same stage as you, but r2 tomorrow so hopefully I'll feel the same way!
Not sure what to say Louise... did you run the whole 44 mins...
Think you should follow the program... otherwise you could take on an injury.
The increments are there for a reason.
Hopefully you will get away with this, but building your running legs takes time, there are no shortcuts. Rest for a couple of days then back to W4 R3..π
So you did 44 mins running instead of 16? and you are going to do kickboxing based HIIT this evening? What are your plans for tomorrow?
Lol! No, I followed the app until I'd finished it then just ran a little bit more and managed to finish 5km in 44 mins.
Off to work tomorrow and Friday for a rest. W3R3 on Saturday.
Average speed was just under 9mins/km so not much more than a fast walk!
That must mean you ran an extra 14 minutes. So nearly double what the programme says for running in W3. That's not following the programme. No one here is trying to crush your enthusiasm. It's great. But running is different from walking. Even slow running. And your joints and muscles need to build up slowly. The programme is designed to go at the right pace for that. It's not just about if you have enough breath to run more (well, it was also about breath for some of us). This forum is littered with people who tried to go faster, for longer or skip rest days because they could and their tales of injury. Just be really careful. Nothing slows your progress more than injury.
Well done. It does feel good doesn't it? Unfortunately I have to add to what others have said. Please read my experience here

I managed to run 5k for about two weeks after my first one. I could do it but my body just wasn't ready. I suffered as a result. I went back and repeated week 5 and carried on from there. It did feel like going backwards for a while. I am now on Week 8 and running for 28 minutes. I don't get blisters and no knee pain. I feel so much stronger than last time. An expert told me recently that our minds and lungs are probably prepared for this distance but the rest of our body isn't. We have to let it catch up.
How has Week 5 gone then, Looking forward to another pic and may be you will be looking even happier than last time if that's possible....
