W4R2 - disaster!

So after managing W4R1 on Wednesday, I attempted run 2 today .... disaster.

I managed the first 3 minute run on a wing and a prayer, and then had to stop ONE MINUTE IN to the first 5 minute run - just felt exhausted πŸ˜• I then went off into a girlie strop with myself and just walked the rest of the 'run', sulking.

Feel like I've let myself down massively as I was doing so well.

I intend to repeat Run 2 - I usually run Mon-Wed-Fri as I have a running companion those mornings - so the question is : do I wait too Monday to repeat it, or face it head on again tomorrow (when I've then got a clear day off before Monday's usual run).

Has anyone else had this setback and what did/would you do?

From one Jan to another. So how stroppy are you really? Harness the strop for a couple of days and then get dead stroppy on Monday... you don't want any nasty micro tears do you? So take the rest and focus the strop for next time out. I say this as a full blown stroppy cow at times.....

;)

So dump the tippy tantrum and go karma... I'm not entirely sure what any of that advice means, but my yoga teacher said it a lot. Although then again he stopped teaching after 6 sessions. Seriously though, take the rest and regroup for Monday

It does happen, it did me, if you feel OK tomorrow then do it..

You didn't feel up to run, that's all. Happens all the time.

A 'disaster would be if you had fallen over and broken your ankle.

Take the weekend off. Put on your Big Girl pants on Monday and go put and do it again.

This happens to me I just walk for a minute then start again. It always seems that much easier then lol.

You did the right thing... if you stop running during a run section you're going to be doing the session again, so worth just leaving that marker there.

But don't, please don't, do the session tomorrow with no rest day. Set yourself up to succeed!

Well done for completing the 1st run. I have that to do on Sunday - not really looking forward to it! I'm no expert but if you were so tired maybe you would be better off resting for at least a day or maybe more before redoing it. You can obviously do it as you have completed the 1st run but perhaps your body is telling you you need a bit of a rest? Good luck!

Well that's the funny thing ..... I am self employed and at my busiest time of year (in the wedding industry) and I usually exist on 5 hours sleep - last night and the night before I made a conscious effort to get to bed for 10pm for my 6 am start the following day - in fact last night I was asleep by 9pm - too much sleep maybe ?

Maybe or maybe you are just doing too much. That's what happened to me at the beggining of the week and I felt terrible. I made myself rest and felt a lot better on my W3R3 today. As far as I'm concerned you can never have too much sleep!

I did W4 R2 yesterday and found it MUCH harder than W4R1! For me, I knew that I could do it so I was a bit too over-confident and went too quick for the first 2 runs! I forced myself to complete it at a slow jog, but my dogs were literally walking next to me for the last two "runs"! It was still my fastest time/best distance!

I am giving myself a 2-day break before I tackle R3. Hopefully it isn't a mistake I do again!

Just take it as Practise run and smash it on Monday!
