I will be doing my last run of week 4 tomorrow, however I am struggling to get the 5 minute runs. How many of you have redone week 4 till the runs come easy, I am not training for anything in particular just doing this to help me get fit. Would feel like I have cheated myself if I struggled to do my last run then did week 5 & did the same through that. Any tips of advice will be greatly appreciated.

Don't expect it to be easy. The whole point of this is that it is challenging. That's how you improve. But the programme steps up every week so it will stay challenging throughout.

If you have managed to complete all three runs move on. If you are really struggling you are probably running too fast. Do week five but run more slowly. I find it hard to run slower but if I am struggling to complete any run despite having done all the previous ones that's usually the problem.

I'm on week 8, but had problems in some of the earlier weeks. Lots of good advice on here to just slow it right down. That helped me on the tricky days. I think the idea is to keep running for those times, as you get fitter and stronger you may also be able to increase your speed. Good luck.

I've just completed week 4 and although I've managed to run for the full 5 minutes I don't feel comfortable yet moving onto week 5 so I'll be running week 4 again. Take it at your own pace but don't talk yourself into staying where you are indefinitely. You can do this

That's how I feel I get to about 4 mins on the last run in the circuit & I struggle, which is why I am thinking about redoing week 4 after my last run later today x

Well done on your progress to date.

If we all stayed within our comfort zone, we would never take on new challenges. There is nothing wrong with repeating a run, if that will instill confidence but if you have completed a run then you are physically prepared to move on and developing the mindset that accepts the challenges is, in my opinion, part of becoming a runner.

From now on the mental aspect becomes more and more important and you need to face the challenge with positivity, knowing that the worst thing that can happen is that you have to repeat a run because you didn't complete it. That is not a failure.......just finding your level and then training to get beyond it. That is what runners do.

Keep running, keep smiling.
