Feel the Power ! W9R1

This is only my second post, the first of which I was feeling down and got encouragement from others, now I'm hoping to do the same back to who reads this as my day has been a massive lesson for me.

It started at the crack of dawn, reluctantly getting up, slowly putting on my shoes and walked out the door a bit like a zombie. The five minute warm up walk started and my mind on que kicked in telling me how long the run is and how tired I was. It was not altogether surprising when I stop very quickly after starting, turned around and walked, head low, back home

I spent the rest of the day in a lower mood and annoyed. Stress then built at work and I decided there was only one way out of it. Come rain or shine I would go again!! This time with gusto ! After a long day I powered through my run, at a good pace and dare I say it .. I could have gone longer. I enjoyed my run and got rewarded with a beautiful sunset and ended my day head held high!

My lesson of mind of matter truely learnt, not to give up and it's okay not to do it the first time ! .. go again and again. People keep asking if it gets easier .. it doesn't. And you know what ? It shouldn't. But the achievements get a lot better :)

Brilliant post - I truly believe that anyone that has got this far is more than capable of running 30 minutes - it's just our minds that play tricks with us. I saw a little quote on a running website that said "that voice in your head that says you can't IS A LIAR!!!! I'm going to repeat it to myself over and over again until Michael Johnson tells me it's time for my five minute cooldown walk!

True.

You were tired this morning. Later today you were more 'with it' and your run went great. Maybe you need to run when your body is ready, and not when your alarm clock is ready. 2 runs to graduation!!! Well done.

For those of us with very full on full time jobs it's more run when you get a chance.

Ive found its good to try to mix it up with times when you can, keeps it fresher.

I did the same run yesterday. It was hard, but I was running in the heat on holiday in Mallorca. I walked a bit, but didn't stop. I decided as it was hot, this was fine and anyhow Jeff Galloway, suggests run walk run method, so why not.

Sometimes, there are just better times to run, when your body is happier.
