I have been inspired by everybody getting out there and doing it all day today... so I thought I’d best have a go.

Little Miss UNM did 25 minutes, she’s still refusing to run 30 again without me, bless her... her run fuelled by some heavy metal making me doubly proud of her.

That left myself and Coach Bennett to do the 30 minutes... Nice steady start and all nice and smooth then around the half way mark I was aware that my pace was quickening... concentrated hard on slowing it back down, this isn’t the run to go faster than before, quite the opposite. Second half got easier as it went and the daughter shouted for me to see how far I could go... Coach Bennett has other ideas and said to stop... little white lie to the daughter saying it was all I had. Really pleased with a comfortable start to the week, next run can have my spare energy at the end... this was about putting a tick on week 9. Having my post run cuppa now, then maybe a glass of grape juice before bed... I have to be fresh to cheer on a few hundred parkrunners in the morning.

Well done ! What were these two extra minutes like? Did you notice a difference with W8 ? (I'm asking because all the runs felt more or less the same length to me since the first 25 minutes one.)

Thanks... I really didn’t notice the extra time... might do next time 😂

I usually run this at 12 minutes a mile... tonight I went for 14... Sunday back to 12... and maybe I’ll try 10 for the last one.

Well done. It’s always good to get the first run under your belt.

It’s all good. Enjoy your grape 🍇 juice. You deserve it

Glad you listened to coach Bennet and not little Miss UNM, nevertheless she seems to be doing very well indeed, perhaps both of you could graduate the same day as long as both of you don't run too fast. Have a good time in the morning at the parkrun🏃😊

UnfitNoMoreGraduate in reply toAlMorr

Yeah, she’s gonna have a speed session on Sunday to get the fast out... I’ve drilled into her that after a fast run you have to go slow next!

Well done UNM. You’re living up to your user name! Go smash the rest of W9 and we want to hear all about your graduation and spray you with champagne ..... 🍾 🍾 🏃🏃

Thanks... champagne on order... do I have to drink 2 bottles as little Miss is too young for more than a glass?!

No one mentioned champagne for graduating - would have finished sooner if I'd known lol. Just as well there's a bottle chilling in the fridge for Monday!!

UnfitNoMore profile image

That’s why it’s not mentioned... if I’d have known I’d have tried to complete this in 27 days 😂

2 to go... can’t wait for the kids to get off that field at junior parkrun on Sunday

Well done UNM, good run ...two left! Also good job with your daughters musical education, it’s tough out there sometimes... but we must persevere, they’ll thank us for it someday...! Great she’s into the running too, I’d like to start my eldest on it, he’s 8 and really interested in the local junior park run, I’ll have to get him going on C25K on my rest days. Enjoy watching the park run tomorrow 🏃‍♂️

UnfitNoMore profile image

Thanks. Juniors is so much fun and can be run on C25K reasonably early... 8 is a great age to start, his gait should still be natural... think it’s about year 7 where the heel landing starts to sneak in. Daughter is fairly extreme with her metal, used to fall asleep to Cradle of Filth “Her Ghost in the Fog” when she was a baby and nothing else was working!

in reply toUnfitNoMore

Yes he’s a little ball of bouncing energy, I’ll have to put him on a flippin lead for the walking intervals!!!

Blimey, Dani Filth singing lullabies... I’ve heard it all now 🤣

My eldest was a big fan of audioslave when he was a baby. He likes Taylor Swift now. Im so ashamed!

😂 she does have weird play lists... cradle, maiden, slipknot, Murs, swift, slayer.

Of course I let her play it in the car and the skip button is under my right thumb 😂

(Shakes head...)

and you started out SO WELL.

I’ve been taking mine to Glastonbury since he was weeks old and his stand out performance from his years of visiting is....

Lionel Richie.

😬😤😳

I really would have loved to have seen Tony Bennett a couple of years back... he’s a legend.

You're getting so close, you gotta do this! You'll be smashing hills after graduation before you know it! Go to it!

UnfitNoMore profile image
UnfitNoMoreGraduate in reply toJundal

I will certainly be doing some hill sprints... then after I get out of hospital I’ll do them again 😂

Should be closed on Tuesday... touch wood

Jundal profile image
JundalGraduate in reply toUnfitNoMore

Hill sprints? INFIDEL! Hill trudges! Take it slow and steady. Keep going. Don't stop. Forge your running soul into shape with the hammer strikes of your feet...

UnfitNoMore profile image
UnfitNoMoreGraduate in reply toJundal

I’ll do them too of course... but you can’t beat 100m fast up, walk down, rinse and repeat, for pain!

Sounds like a fab start to week 9, well done 👍 extra well done on the self control-and doing it how you know you should!

It’s always inspiring reading others journeys but you must be so proud your daughter is involved-again another well done!

Enjoy the park run and cheering them all on-that must be inspiring and encouraging as well. Smash the rest of week 9 and enjoy 😊
