I graduated C25k on Saturday, time was 36.33 which i was really happy with, last night i did my first run on my own, was going for around 2 miles but i really struggled and had to stop and walk twice, i feel like i went backwards last night, do you think it was just a blip ?

Yes just a blip. Eat healthily, hydrate well, get back out there!

I'm guessing it was a 5k on Saturday? Remember you do not need to run 5k every run, mix it up a bit. In week one you would have been delighted to run 2miles. Every run builds your running legs👍🏼

Yes it was 5k on Saturday, i think it was a combination of things last night, heat, hydration and i was tired, i will be back out again Thursday, it was only when i got i home that i remembered i should have slowed my pace down and maybe i would have got through it better.

Firstly well done for completing C25K.

Definitely just a blip. Looking back I think I thought it would be easier once I'd finished the programme but if anything it's harder because you need to motivate yourself. I still take Laura (W9) with me about once a week and I would highly recommend Parkrun if you can get to one.

You've done all the work so you can definitely do it, it's just those dratted gremlins getting into your head.

Change your route, run at a different time, run/walk, promise yourself a treat when you get home, whatever works for you.

Good luck and keep running...you can do it!

Thank you for your reply, i am quite sad that i will not be doing the c25k as a group and it s definately harder on your own, as you say the gremlins get in your head, i saw 2 men runners stopped and walked and it kind of said to me well its ok for you to stop.

I'm always tempted to stop when I see others start walking plus also I start too fast when running in a group so I'm still better running solo at the moment. If you want structure and Laura try the c25k plus podcasts. They're great.

Have you looked at running groups. My C25k group have 5k and beyond groups.

I understand that runners have good days and bad. Put it down to a bad day. I find what I eat and what kind of day I've had really impacts on how well I can run. You will have good runs too.

Excitement!!! Out there all alone:)

Time to kick back, enjoy some runs for fun, consolidate the 30 min runs but put in some short runs too... and some gentle, where will I get to runs:) The running legs need building up... there is time:)

I've got 1 week left then need to consolidate- I'll keep using the app and repeat week 9 a few times - I'm naturally Lazy yet also naturally obedient ( hence have the rather stern Mr Johnson telling me what to do)

Once I've got routes sorted and know how far they are and what sort of pace I need I might cut some apron strings!
