This afternoon I braved the elements and went for my 2nd run as a graduate, the first 10 minutes seemed to take forever, but after that I settled into a nice rhythm and managed to cover 5.13k in 31 minutes so I'm well happy with that.
My target is to run a sub 30 minute 5k by the end of next month when I take part in my 1st organised event.
Loving this running malarkey, why didn't I start sooner?

Well done. Good time. I got a time of 32:23 last Saturday on my first post graduation run at a Parkrun. I too want to get to a sub 30 min 5K but will give myself another 2 months to get comfortable at 5k. I did a 5k yesterday evening, it was a disaster. But it was great to be out there.
Thanks buddy. My first was a disaster, I just couldn't find a rhythm but today it clicked, maybe the rain helped or the change in music but it was great.
I'm off for another on Friday and not sure if I should aim for 5k again or increase my running time to 33 minutes.
I loved it. I have so far done 6 Parkruns. I started doing them as my Run 3 during the C25K Plan. Walked/Ran my way around. Each week I was shaving time off my PB. Last Saturday I did a Parkrun in Marley Park in Dublin. It was cool, 450+ runners. I'll be back to my local Parkrun on Saturday in Navan, 30 mins North of Dublin.
I have a lot of training ahead of me before I will feel comfortable with running a consistently comfortable 5k in under 30 mins. Thats my goal from now until the end of August, to still have some more in the tank at the end of a Parkrun instead of wishing for the finish line on the last kilometer.
I'm off for my second post grad run shortly. Going to try out the stepping stones podcast so will finally get to discover the delights of the lovely Laura!
So, the verdict! Laura is a bit of a letdown after the dulcet tones of Jo Whiley, and the music is awful! But, it did make me push myself, and I ran faster than I have run before, so it must be good! And bonus, after 20 mins, I realised my legs weren't hurting and I almost felt like a runner! Race for Life next (on Sunday).
