On the IC but walking - at least it's something!

My medics are adamant I mustn't run or go to the gym for several weeks yet, but they did say I could go for walks .... I don't really think this was quite what they had in mind, but hey it was GREAT to get out in the country lanes and footpaths. Good for my endurance but the speed was cr**! I'll try to walk a bit faster next week .....

Hate to really upset you, but having stuck to the slow and steady (well, mostly I was a good boy!) through the programme I'm now chomping at the bit to get speeded up ..... I've set myself a 5K target and I'm nowhere even in sight of it, but you know me by now, I'll get there in the end! In the meantime I'll just have to settle for walking faster.

I am glad.... really I am :) ( Justbetween ourselves, it turns out I am a lot speedier than I imagine myself to be...)

You are on the way now and you have done it by being sensible.. some folk think they can rush on regardless and then wonder why they don't make it!

You will get where you want to be, definitely. If I can reach 10K.. well... there we are :)

But they did say you could go for a walk.....at least you have a target to beat when you are able to run again. Get well soon and looking forward to seeing you off the IC.

Another 4 to 6 weeks they say, but I'll get back into things before then if I possibly can. I wanted a new course that was about 5K and sussed this one out, fantastic lanes that are closed to traffic, a section on a trail UP HILL (phew! it is a climb too), then looping back to home. It's much hillier than my local Parkrun and I could swear that it's a lot more than just 0.6 km longer. I'm thinking I'll go and walk the Parkrun course one day next week to check out my theory.

If you continue to walk this over the next 4 to 6 weeks you will be well and truly ready to run it! I know what you mean about that extra 0.6km - goes on forever just like the one minute run in week one (but how come the walking part was over in the wink of an eye).

Haha, I was convinced my home parkrun was slightly longer than 5k as I couldn't get under 53 mins (until today) but was under 53 for my away day park runs...

Anyways, today I Runkeepered it and it was exactly 5k so that theory is out of the window....but also smashed that 53 barrier today..and the 52 one and the 51 too.😊🏃

Well it's good you're up and about... You know how you feel better than any of us out here...but don't over do it postoperatively.🚶🏃🚶

You take care

Glad to hear that you're on the mend and mobile, just as the C25K mantra ' take it slow and steady' for a full recovery. Hwyl.

Good for you! Walking is really good for you 😃 A fun way of keeping fit til you can run again, which I hope will be soon
