Running outside

On the south coast visiting family this weekend so I looked up a run and there seemed to be a fairly short flat run on along the cliffs so thought I'd give it a go... OMG! Mapmyrun lied! it was all hills and dips. With that and the weather (rain and wind), negotiating dogs and walkers, what a completely different experience to the treadmill!!!! I abandoned the programme and did what I could, however I really enjoyed the challenge and ran ran/walked further and longer than I've managed before. Back to the programme when I get home but a real eye opener of the joys, trials and tribulations of running in the great outdoors.

Well done. I completed the program last year on treadmill and now doing it again outside. It is different but certainly better outside, not so boring. Wish I'd plucked up the courage to go outside last time.

Are you now going to switch to outside?

Hi slinky. I may try and mix it up a little? The treadmill is so dull but gives predictable results if you keep slogging away, but today outdoors I thought oh well do what you can! and I even managed short bursts up the hilly bits which really made me feel a bit of a superhero haha!! 💥⚡️🏅🏃‍♀️

Sounds great, Runlike - very brave. I'm going for w8r2 tomorrow and you might have inspired me to try the park again. Will seeing whether it's raining!

Wimped out on the basis that although it wasn't raining any more it had been in the night and I didn't want to get my newish running shoes muddy. Priorities all wrong, I know. Actually I struggled on the treadmill for the 28 minutes. Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason to how it goes. I hope you're doing well Runlike, it sounds as if you are.

Not what you're looking for?
