Hi all, I'm 37 next month and over the last 6 years I have put on around 6 st that I want to lose. I started the couch to 5k and have so far done two runs. My god I'm so unfit! I hadn't realised just how bad it had got. I need to stick with this for myself and my kids. I've sign up to do MyMarathon for the British heart foundation so over may will be walking/running 26.2 miles. Wish me luck x

Just follow the programme. Come on here for encouragement, or to encourage others. Remember that each run is a challenge - one you are capable of meeting head on, as the distances build up slowly. Take it one run at a time. You CAN do the next run because you put in the groundwork on this last one

Oh, and when they say RUN - take it slow and pace yourself. You will SMASH it!!

Good luck, I've just completed run 2 on Podcast 1. I'm 40 in July. My wife has tried to get me doing this for years as she's done marathons and half marathons. Stick with it! It's not about times, it's about finishing it. A pro's mile is the same as the mile the likes of us will do. All the best

Go for it! Take one day at a time, one run and one walk at a time, and before you know it, things will be changing for the better. MyMarathon sounds fantastic - I'll check it out. Keep us posted!

Well done for starting. Apparently that's the most difficult thing to do. I did my second run on Wednesday and was surprised at how much easier it was (I was still gasping for breath and nearly going backwards though). Was your run a little easier than the first?

A marathon!!! Wow, I'm so impressed! I've been looking at a local 5k at the start of June and hesitating. I hope it goes well for you :)
