Feeling encouraged

Ran for 5k round the park today, without any significant leg pain. Slow time but I need to build back up again.

Have registered for a local fun run of 2.5 miles in May and Race for Life 5k in July. Am I mad?

Not mad at all Joy. You're just a runner 😊 and clearly enjoying it. Well done on the 5K.

Just slightly mad, but aren't we all? I find it's always good to have something to aim for, good luck with your future runs... BTW do you have a link for the race for life run? I'll be on holiday in the UK from 15/7/17 and look forward to doing some runs.

Not mad at all - you'll enjoy the fun run, and Race for Life is really enjoyable (although I did find myself fighting back the tears as I read some of the labels that people had referring to their loved ones).

Joy, mine neither. However, the first time I did it, I thought for a second "who the hell do I think I'm kidding", but I was having so much fun I forgot all about my reservations. It's a blast 😀 It's not about winning, obviously 😁, but it is just so much fun. When we start out on C25k we have no idea or thought about races but you find yourself on the start line and from that moment you jump into this other world.

I did my first fell race recently, and doubts crept in, but I found the field made up of loads of older women. Young, fast runners were busy elsewhere that day 😀 It was a wonderful experience, and so friendly. Can't wait to do it again 🙂

The scene of my first original doubts is to be revisited tomorrow, as it's race day again 🙂

Great, thanks for that encouragement. I'm glad there's a place for us 'older women' (not just on the couch either). Hope your race goes really well!
