thanks for the support everyone. I'm going to carry on with C25K and hope that I'll get there some day, somehow. For now it's hard for me to be positive, so I'll be back on the forum when I've got something good to report. Could be a while. Good luck everyone.

Oh dear, you sound like how I feel😟 Life will always get in the way but that's when we need to stay strong 👍 I've took weeks off and may do so again due to family issues. I'm trying to remind myself why I started this, I'm hoping I'll still get there🙂 I really hope you don't leave, this isn't about a 9 week plan , it's a lifestyle 🙂 Those running shoes 👠 in the hall are still looking at me, I hope yours have flatter heels 😂 Stick with it 🌶

Well I hope you will keep running cos you bought shoes!!!! I'm sorry that you're not feeling positive at the moment. I always feel much better after a run. I hope you will get to that point too

Come back soon!

Sorry to hear that David.... Your practice run the other day was sounding like positive progress..... Take care of yourself and come back when you're ready, we are all here to support each other , through good times and bad, even when you're not running.

It sounds as though you might benefit from more holistic coaching/therapy... can be a fine line between gaining the boost from exercise and running on empty from doing too much out of trying to 'run away' or punishing oneself. Hard to sum up in a few lines but I hope you understand what I mean.

It would be a lousy forum if people only posted here when they had good news to report.

Take care of yourself.

That's a shame davidhwynn because you were doing so well. But, if it's right for you to leave it for a while, then of course, you must do so. No need to make an experience that you enjoy into one that becomes a pain in the proverbial. Don't be a stranger though, let us know how you're getting on...xx

This is so sad David.

Please take care of yourself, as aliboo70 says, we post, successes and setbacks, and the support on this forum is about a lot more than just the run.

I shall miss you x

Exercise is all about looking after being kind to yourself. When I was struggling through the program I went off plan for a few weeks and just went out and did what I wanted to. I walked I ran but mainly I just got some fresh air and the great time outside to feel better about it all then on one of those days I was ready to take up the program again a few weeks later and that's what worked for me. I found it great just coming back on here just reading posts as well. Take care and hopefully we will hear from you soon.

That's great that you're planning to keep on with C25k. You've broken the back of it so I have no doubt that you'll get there one day. And probably sooner than you think. Better doing it slowly than bashing on before your body is ready and risking injury.

Do feel free to come on and have a moan though. Your post seems to suggest that you think we only want positive jolly posts on here but that's not true. We have all felt negative sometimes and if we're honest enough to say so here we'll probably help someone who's reading to feel glad that they're not alone.

I had a whole 5 weeks when I just couldn't motivate myself to run. All sorts of crapolata going on at home, feeling sorry for myself. Even knowing I'd feel better if I ran didn't help. It does pass but sometimes just the guilt of 'not' running adds to the gloom. Cut yourself some slack, have a break and squish the guilt gremlin! You've done brilliantly. And you will again I'm sure. Running is a great mood enhancer though, so run for a bit when you feel you can. Sending you smiles ☺☺☺☺☺

I agree with the walking thing. It's great! Hope you won't be away too long

Good luck David !

We will miss you David, do pop on with any news you want to share...

My hubby is 61 and although he did graduate (we did the plan together) he doesn't enjoy running for long periods, or in cold wet weather. He will do 10mins run then walk for a few mins then run for 10 etc. but is not a fan of the 30 min non-stop run. However, this run/walk does open up longer routes in more interesting places and makes it more of an outing. Treadmill running can be quite boring. Hope this helps.

Whatever you decide, do keep fit doing exercise you enjoy...

Best wishes😊xxx

Another one hoping you won't be gone for long, David.

While you are away, please try to remember what you have achieved, because it is a really significant amount. Week 6 is no mean achievement and whatever other activities you are doing or planning on doing will benefit from the improvement to your fitness that you've worked so hard for.

See you soon & good luck!

I'd echo all the comments above. This time round, it took me over 9 months to complete C25k. Various breaks, picking up again, hiatuses along the way, but I got there - there's no pressure here to push through, just lots of support through the bad as well as the good.

Right now I'm struggling to get out due to family stuff, work, other committments, and am starting to worry about how hard it's going to be when I do get my shoes on and go (tonight? maybe...). But no matter how far or short I run, no matter how quick (hah!) or slow (definitely!), it's a run, and it'll do my head at least as much good as my body.

Keep in touch - the folks here are a very special crowd. :)
