Hi, new to this group and complete newbie to running. Hope I can keep going as I really need to get healthy
Starting my first run: Hi, new to this group and... - Couch to 5K
Starting my first run
Welcome to the group sherinfor5k . I was a complete newbie back in August, having never run in all my 52 years. I was coerced into doing some running by my Macmillan nurse following breast cancer and a mastectomy. It took me longer than the 9 weeks as I had further surgery after week 8 and had to start the programme again, but I'm pleased to tell you that I graduated in December and have definitely caught the running bug. I'm a lot fitter, and while I haven't lost weight as such I have developed a much nicer shape and smaller behind.
If I can do it you can too. Good luck and I look forward to hearing about your first run soon.
Thanks a lot Razouski . That's really encouraging . Hope I too can be disciplined about and keep going.
I really enjoyed my first run actually. I've never run before and cannot call myself a very physically active person which is why I was really hesitant about doing it. Now I really look forward to the next run and maybe some day I'd graduate just like you
Good luck and enjoy it
You're in good company. I wasn't fit and thought running wasn't for me. But the program breaks in down into manageable goals. Keep it slow and steady when you go out. And check back in. We want to hear about your journey.
Well done, good idea to get moving. Nice and slow and just as long as you do the required time for each run, you pass!
That sounds like me. I started C25K on Christmas Day, having rarely ever run before and certainly not since I was at school, but I'm now on week 8 (it comes around quickly) and loving it - especially how it makes me feel afterwards!
Enjoy!
Hi and welcome.. glad your first run went well
Follow the programme slowly and steadily and take those rest days too!
We will help you, with support and encouragement and little shove if you need one
