Does it count that I managed to time it so that all the running was downhill and the walking uphill? It wasn't done on purpose, but quite glad it worked out that way.
Now ... to find a way to run for 20 minutes downhill and not end up miles away from home ...

A fortuitous benefit! And run 2 safely tucked away. The walking uphill is a great trade off, sounds like a perfect run! (Let me know if you find a 20 minute downhill route)😉
I love finding flatness. Of course it counts...) unless you were sliding on a tea-tray down the hill)
Go you! Onward and errrrr downward!!!
Well done for getting out there. Don't worry about the hill. Once I got to continuous running I moved house and had no option to start down a hill and come back up it on the way home.
I don't seek out hills to climb (Never had a Julie Andrews moment). I gradually conquered my hill gradually a quarter of it at a time. By the way my hill is only 500 metres. You may find that once you have the 30 minutes running under your belt you may want to seek out a challenge and find a route with bit of a challenge.
Actually, running downhill takes more effort because of balance issues and also in our case the muscles involved being employed differently than usual So - well done!
Yes, it counts! Just like those lovely runs where the wind is behind you (although always seem to get countered by the runs where whichever direction you go the wind is in your face!). Good luck for the next one! Slow and steady and you'll be fine.
