I got half way through this programme about 18 months ago but had to stop due to needing a new hip. I had my operation in September and want to start again. Has anyone else done couch to 5k after hip replacement surgery and if so what advice can you give me. Thanks.

I haven't got any experience with hip replacements, but just wanted to say I'm impressed that you're back at the programme. Well done!

I'm sure there must be someone who can advise. In the meantime, have you checked the position with your doctor/physio?

The experts havent really ruled a return out and I know of other people who have returned to running but I think they were more advanced runners than I ever was. I wondered if weeks one, two and three might be doable as they have more walking than running.

I'd have thought it best to check with your doctor first, and as long as they think it's ok, then give it a go. Repeat weeks if needed to make sure it's all fine, and take it slowly to build up the strength. But I am not an expert in any way!

I'm no expert either but know for a fact that Rob_and_his_westie has had a hip replacement and he ran the London Marathon last year. As far as I know he only took up running latterly, too. So it definitely can be done.
