Got to week 6 run 3 then stopped. Just couldn't face it. Been trying to control type 2 diabetes diagnosis with diet alone but 3 month check has shown it's time for medication. I've promised to try harder as I don't want to take meds so broke up from school yesterday and got on the running machine this morning. Went back to week 4 run 1 and it felt tough but there was no way I was going to restart the whole thing. Now I feel fantastic and back on it. Determined to get to week 6 by the time I go back to school in January and hope I can look after the diet over Xmas. Not a sweet tooth person so that's easy.... just need to lay off the prosecco!! Bosh! Back in the game!
Back again...: Got to week 6 run 3 then stopped... - Couch to 5K
Back again...
Welcome back ! ☺
Well done! You can do this!
Welcome back.
Keep on it, keep posting on here. I have type 1 diabetes but am an NHS patient rep so would be interested to see how the exercise helps.
Well done and welcome back! Remember slow and steady is the way😃👍🏼
Well done . Part of my motivation was to avert potentially being diabetic. Semi-retired at 60 a year ago. 2 years ago was 3 stone overweight. Lost final 1 1/2 stone this year. 10lb lost directly over 9 week C25K starting in March/April. Am now hovering 2lbs above my normal BMI 10st 2lb.
Despite regularly cycling to work 3 times per week couldn't shift my weight enough. Retiring helped by not having the tempting cakes biscuits etc. that float around the workplace. Not preaching abstinence but gave up alcohol. Only would drink occasionally at weddings special occasions etc. But even just one drink the sugar particularly in the evening meant I didn't feel right the next day. I can't say I enjoyed the drink. So cut it out altogether. Doesn't stop me going out with friends and relatives who drink.
Even if I didn't have health warning wake up call the running has rid me of my lethargy and increased my fitness and well being physically and mentally. The great sense of achievement also helps. Even if it was not running (which gives flexibility , when and where) exercise is so important for everyone whatever age.
I'm lucky that I only work part time and don't have the same pressures. But now regularly run 6K+ in about 40 minutes and experiment with trying to increase my speed and time running. The emphasis being on time (regardless of speed) to build up stamina.
My blood pressure, weight and health signs are all fine now and feel great. Take it slow and steady and the continuous running will just become another enjoyable habit.
Back in the game indeed! Well done getting through that first run.
Well done! Stay with it, slow and steady.
Bosh! Way to go Jigglemooce . Good to see you again
Well a chest infection stopped me in my tracks and I couldn't get beyond week 6 on New Year's Day so haven't run since then. But today, back out on the treadmill I crept and redid week 4 run 1. This diabetes and chest infection won't get me. Feeling 100% better now. I stopped drinking alcohol on 21st December and am still on the wagon! Hoping that when my next check up comes the diabetes will be reduced, the liver will be breathing again and I will be back at week 6 and well on my way again. I am determined that 2017 will be my 5k year. I need to do it! 🏃🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️🏃🏻♀️
