Back up to 20 mins...again!

So, long story long, I am repeating a run or two of each week to gently get back up to 30 mins after 6 weeks on the IC. This morning’s run was Week 5 Run 3 - my favourite the first time around! I still glow when I think of the sense of achievement I had when I first ran for 20 mins. Sigh.

Well, I just did it again and it was just as wonderful! Legs felt strong, pace was regular, and lungs coped admirably. Lovely.

Stretched my right calf out after, and knee twanged. Pain for a brief minute then disappeared. What was that all about?! Sheesh. Feels okay now but gave me such a fright. Starting to wonder if my body has a checklist of classic running injuries and it was introducing me to the next one.

Anyhoops, onwards and forwards. Happy running everyone.

Oh yes, too right! 😊

So glad you are back. Six weeks is a long time. Have you found it hard to get back into it? Did you still have some residual running fitness? Well done, you are a 🌟 xxx

Thank you dearest Flick!

I haven't found it hard at all to get back into it – was missing running so much, being able to start again (gently) was a joy! I had been running 4-5k three times a week for around a month before my injury, so although some some stamina had been lost, my legs still knew what to do, and they were strong from the strength training and yoga I managed to keep up whilst on the IC.

I found week 1 easy-peasy, but weeks 2-3 had their challenges – more mental than physical I think. After today's run I think my stamina feels almost back to what it was – plus I had that mental boost from running for 20 mins non-stop! I think I will do the whole of week 6, then one run from 7, 8, and 9 – all being well! xxx

Thank you, lovely Jan. Will keep an eye on that knee, of course – but no pain at all now, like it never happened. My body is weird. May take two days rest just in case…super sensitive to any twinges now! Hope all is well with you. xx

Oh FFS. Knee a bit tender now, I spoke too soon! Sigh.

It's great to hear you are back and running. I hope it is the end of your running injuries and wish you some nice gentle runs to catch up your 30 mns.

Well done you...keep it slow and steady and make sure you stretch well and roll :)

Thank you dear Flossie. Knee a bit tender now after an overzealous post run calf, stretch, so am going to rest a couple of days. I am a klutz. A running disaster by all accounts! Hope you are okay - sorry to hear you on the IC, by the way. Hugs. x

Woohoo for a lovely run... !!!

Boohoo for a sore knee... !!!

Take it really easy my lovely, wrap that knee in cotton wool, ice, chocolate, anything that will make it happy 😊 xx

Thanks dearest HITC!

Chocolate, that should work, right?! I could kick myself (except I don’t need to add to my magnificent injury record), for hurting myself stretching. Doh! My knees have been little troopers since starting running, nada problemos.

Are you feeling any better today, buddy? xx

Yep, chocolate works for everything... IMHO. Wouldn’t hurt to try it, eh..?? 😉😂

Do you think the knee has overcompensated for the hamstring.... just thrown your weight/balance off kilter a bit and taken the strain..??

Oh no, don’t kick yourself - you might fall over and pop a hip ...!!! 😳

I’m ok as long as I don’t move, speak or breathe ... because then I cough and I can’t breathe 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m learning that ‘patience’ thing... pffft..!! Xx

Ha! If only it were that complicated. 😏I felt it twang during a stretch - that I took too far like an idiot. It is not too bad to be honest, but seriously, after “hamgate”, I feel anxious with any twang or twinge these days. I JUST LOVE RUNNING so much. 😭

Oh love. 🙁 You WILL get better, you will. And starting running again is fun! (Unless you are me). But seriously. Stay still, and feel better soon. xx

Oh bless you. Try not to worry, I’m sure it will feel happier by the morning... after chocolate 😉 Take it really easy.

Thank you for your kind words...

I’m resting up as much as I can and working from home, which always helps. Just want to get back out there again 😔

Soon...

Take care lovely xxx
