Reached the fabled 5K

I managed to run for a distance of 5K last night, in 36 minutes. Graduated two weeks ago and been increasing my time 10% each week. Expected to get to the 5K next week with a 40 minute run. Absolutely delighted, if a bit surprised!

10 weeks ago I couldn't run the length of myself. So grateful to everyone on this forum for the help, advice and encouragement.

For anyone at any stage of the programme, keep going, one foot in front of the other, you can do it!

Hah I have just posted practically identical! Just run my first ever actual 5k - in 36 minutes! 😄 It's still a massive achievement- go us!

Take things steady. it is so easy at this stage to overdo things in the pursuit of speed. your running legs have to get built and it takes time. Slow runs build legs ☺ as you get stronger and fitter your times will increase as you have greater overall strength and pulling power. Slow running uphill is good exercise ☺

Mix things up, take your rest days and have fun with your running 😊

Yay us!!! Well done! It's the fastest I've ever ran, but strangely I didn't feel like I was going any faster than normal.

Excellent. It seems like this morning was a really good one for running. I'm only on week 8 but achieved a really good time too. :-) 🏃🏻‍♀️

Well done achievingit 😊

Be careful as misswobble says, you don't want to risk an injury by pushing yourself too much too soon. You know that though. A great time out of the blue. 😄xx
