A year ago today I did week 1 run 1. I couldn’t believe how long a minute was when running and how short 90 seconds was when walking. I didn’t think I’d make it on the final repetition.
I went on to complete the programme in 10 weeks (I twinged a back muscle in week 7). Not every run was easy. The gremlins got me a lot. I had many crises of confidence. I did graduate, but nowhere near the “magic 5k” in half an hour.
The support of people on here got me through, many of whom I’ve remained in touch with.
A year late... I made it to 5k. Then on to 10k. And this weekend I made it to 10 miles (16.1k) for the first time. Over 130 minutes of non stop running.
Believe that you can do this. You just need to show up each time, manage any niggles, support each other.
Enjoy your next run x

Great work Jay, I agree with everything you’ve said. If we support each other we can get through this. A surprising amount of this running lark is in the mind- as you say, “just believe in yourself”.🙂👍
I started C25K 50 weeks ago, followed that with Bridge to 10K and I’m running my first half marathon on Sunday!😳🏃♂️
Congratulations on your progress! 👏👏👏 Who’d have thought a year ago we’d be where we are?😊
Hear Hear. What a difference a year makes once you’ve started C25K . It’s amazing the transformation it has made with your healthy eating too. Well done.
This forum has helped many of us achieve far more than we thought we were capable of. 🏃♀️🏃♂️🏃♀️🏃♂️👏🏻👏🏻
Very encouraging- I live in hope. I started like you and am now on W6 which I consider to be a miracle in itself. I have enrolled onto a 5K in another 9 weeks time and my aim is to just get round before they shut the finish line!
Congratulations Jay on your anniversary, I remember your early posts on here going through the programme, always brilliant to read and funny, kept me going through some of my difficult runs I can tell you. Your Lyme Park parkrun will remain one of my favourites and look at you now. Awesome. 👍
Brilliant Jay. I’ve told you before, you were my mentor (well MJ was, but you know what I mean) as you were a couple of months ahead of me on your C25K journey. I looked to your posts for what I might expect ahead, and you always offered encouragement - and still do. 👍
Happy runniversary Jay! You’ve come literally miles in a year. Not sure l’ll follow in your 10 mile footsteps though - 10k is plenty for me! 😅
It was great to support one another during those giddy days of C25K. The mild hysteria of those days when we finished a run to our complete amazement and then faced the fear of the next run.
As a group we cajoled one another onwards and upwards, took the mickey, gave sympathy, gentle support and generally had a great time. One year later I would like to say that we have all matured a little, but that would not be much fun.
Well done on your 1 year anniversary and the epic 10 miler. That really is amazing!
Congratulations on your "runiversary" Jay, amazing what you have achieved in a year, mine is on the 18th April, my plan is to rerun C25K starting at week 3, the reason for that is because when I'm out long walks I usually run week 1, but usually week 2 during the walk.
Congratulations on your 10 miler Jay. I’m exactly 1 month behind you, but won’t be doing 10 miles- 10k is plenty for me. I still remember you were the first person to comment on my posts and it really encouraged me to carry on knowing somebody was there. Celebrate and continue to enjoy 😊
What a difference a year makes! I still can't believe it is a year. Those days were so tough. Now it's still tough but the difference is you KNOW you can do it. Am so glad we kept in touch...if it wasn't for this forum and my VRBs (including you) I don't think I would have ever crossed the finish line, let alone be still running a year later! I'm so glad you are still enjoying your running...what a gift we gave ourselves xx
