Today was my daughters 8th birthday and she wanted to run a parkrun with mummy or daddy. She had managed 1.5 and 2 miles before in cross country at school or road running with me. So leaping into the unknown we went along this morning. She had seen her friend run and cheered him on whilst walking the route with me and the dog. However they flipping changed the route today so that was a total unknown for both of us!. She was running really well up to 3.5k but then needed a few speedy walks and running. She had daddy to speed her up at the final 0.5k (daddy came in earlier) and completed 5k with me in 33.34. An outstanding effort for my little lady. Her 6 yr old sister ran/walked with nanny coming in at 39 minutes. Such a lovely relaxing run for me without worrying about getting a pb. Think we will be doing it again soon!

It was a lovely way to start the day, a family affair!! She is keen to go again which is fantastic. If she keeps it up she will be miss speedy pants running with her dad rather than me!
That's great. Well done to all!
Lovely way to start her birthday and what a good time (she's already faster than me). Your 6yo did really well too!
Brilliant! What a lovely way to celebrate your birthday - at any age! And fab times for everyone too.
My goodness what amazing times! Your 6 year old walking/running is way faster than me! Congratulations to the whole family!
Well done to all of you, and happy birthday wishes to your daughter.
I had been dreading the change to the winter route but actually enjoyed it. I must admit I walked part of the hill the second time round but ended up with my first sub 40 so was sooo pleased. Hope both of your girls feel inspired, there seemed to be a lot of youngsters running yesterday. Have they thought if doing junior Parkrun on a Sunday? (Think it's at Riverside Park).
I think there were about 8 juniors under 10, eldest came in 4th and youngest came in 7th. The girls have swimming on a Sunday at 0900 so junior parkrun is out for us. They would both be able to do 2 miles. It would be good if the common did a junior parkrun on a Saturday! I may be bringing the eldest again on Saturday whilst the twins are having school rehearsals. I'm looking forward to it! Well done slow worm on your sub 40 time, the winter route threw me but I didn't actually mind it! So you must have been at our parkrun yesterday????
