Going to do my first run on week 5 tomorrow. Mixed feelings ... part of me is looking forward to it and part dread! I can not imagine running for 20 mins at the end of week 5. I hope I can do it!!
Week 5: Going to do my first run on week... - Couch to 5K
Week 5
Take it slow and steady, don't think in terms of 'Pass/Fail" but 'Practice run' and 'Success run' and enjoy your progress.
Every stage that ups the time seems daunting - but you have made it this far and I bet you would have thought the same about it in week one
You'll be fine, trust the programme
Thanks for the advice. It's a good way of thinking about the runs as a practice run than a fail. And yes I didn't think I would of got through the previous weeks. Well I did wk 5 run 1 today and got through it really pleased
I dreaded wk 5, r3 too.... But I did it! For me, I really tried to keep calm, and go steadily...no haring off at the start and then struggling once the adrenaline had worn off a minute or two later!
Finishing week five feels amazing. You can do it if you've done the previous runs. When you get to that bit of the program you will be ready. Good luck, and let us share in your victory when you've done it!
It's nice to know other people struggled as well and got through the program it gives us hope. Y
Thanks for your encouraging words
Well done, just take one run at a time. Relax on the run and run slowly and keep plodding until the time is up! You have done everything you need to do to prepare for it, if I did, you definitely can 😀
Thanks for your encouraging words
The very worst thing that can happen is that you do not manage to complete the run...........so you repeat it..........simples.......nothing to fear. The programme has prepared you...... believe in yourself and the programme.
True words. I did wk 5 run 1 this am and made it really pleased. Beginning to have a little believe in myself. Long way to go!!
I was disappointed that I ran so slowly while doing C25K, sometimes I thought "if I run any slower, I will be going backwards!" However, I got to the end of the programme because I ran at a speed that guaranteed I could keep going to the run time. That is what matters. Since graduating, I did my first 5k in 43 minutes and now can do one in 34 minutes. I run 10k once a week and 5k twice a week. I am not super fast but I am running and enjoying it
I have week5, run 3 tonight and I cant wait, I am determined to finish it. I am sure you will be ok.
Just trust the instructions. You don't need to go fast, just keep moving.... As Laura would say, 'you can definitely do this!'..... Enjoy!
Laura is fantastic she gets me through each run
My W5 R3 is tomorrow morning and I'm really looking forward to it. I've signed up for the Parkruns, which I want to start after I've graduated to give me a purpose. Not only that but I've agreed to do a 10 mile charity run from Lichfield to Tamworth in April 17.
EEEEKKK!!!!!!
Good luck with your run tonight
