Since then I have been wobbling about unsure of my direction and to be honest probably sounded a bit woosey when I have posted my last few runs π
Millsie-J (thanks π x) responded to my reply on Woody131061 's post and said to me - lets me having ya! Sign up for a Park run.......just what I needed....a gauntlet thrown down π
So I have just registered for my first Parkrun and aim to run on 5th November 2016
The next 5 weeks will be 3 times a week training to hopefully build up to a 5k distance - best (and only once) was 4.2k
Now I feel I have a goal and will be out there tomorrow training - this old tortoise will get her mojo back π’ππ As Bluebirdrunner said 'it's in writing now', so I have to do it π
I aim to run the whole 5k - if I don't the first time, I'll keep bloomin' going until I do.....
ONWARDS !! π

Hi Kate, that's great, i think it helps to have a goal to focus once the programme has ended. i've signed up for a 5k race on New Years Eve but intend to try the park run once or twice before, and like you determined to get the 5k distance. Good luck with your training and park run x
I've not been on for ages but your post grabbed me as it sounds a lot like my own experience! I really missed the structure of the program once I'd graduated- I really missed the lovely Laura telling me what to do. The best thing I did was then to keep increasing distance until I managed the golden 5k. What a great feeling ... you are very close to that now Kate ! Then I joined parkrun which was fab !! My best 5k is still 33.30 mins I can't get below the magic 30, but I've managed 10 miles a few times now..... it's amazing writing that!!
I'd always disliked sport as a child , I wish I'd found this c25k sooner.
I have signed up for a 5k at the end of my program decided it was better for me to be committed to something then I have to keep going π π. Not even thinking about times just going to plod on to the end ππ’π’π’
Yeah Kate, brillient! I shall also run my local parkrun same day, so that we can run together (sort of). I am a slow runner so you are likely to finish earlier than me, BUT a slow 5k is as far as a fast 5k ππΌSo it matters not on our time!
We can do this Kate! Looking forward to running with you!
Brilliant π you are not as slow as me πbut I'm with you - a 5k is a 5k whatever the time! Out today for my training session - only did 2.7k but pleased about how I felt on it ππ’
I will be willing you on lightweightkate.... your so motivated you will do it. I am just enjoying running for as long I feel like it, one day 20 mins another day 30mins and today I did my fastest ever 1k, its nice to be running for fun with no pressure. I don't think I will ever run a 5k but I might try another walk/run one day.
Remember remember the 5th of November ! Will definitely remember you for that day and be mentally running with you for at least part of the way (then I will take a short cut to the finish line to cheer you mightely when you break the tape
Well done for setting yourself a goal- I'm sure it will help! We are just about to start week 8 and I too have been wondering what I will do after graduation. I started this program by accident really, with no goal in mind and don't actually (as yet!) enjoy running but have felt doubly proud of myself for that reason! I am determined to graduate but think I will find it difficult to motivate myself without the structure of the podcasts leading us through the weeks..SO..we have decided to do a (very expensive!) park run thing on November 1st, World Vegan Day because it is a vegan themed event and people can run any distance but you get a medal if you just complete one circuit which is I think slightly over 5k. It will come a couple of weeks after we are due to graduate so will give is motivation to continue at least for a couple of weeks!
We are interested in park runs but busy on Saturdays through till spring so will have to try our local park run some time in April, so I'm not sure what will happen between November and April so we will be looking for inspiration.
Fantastic idea, I think you will love it. Just remember that it's a run, not a race and you'll be fine. No shame at all in walking some of it if you need to but the buzz of running (however slowly) round the whole 5k is brilliant. βΊ
