I started off as usual - first few metres fine, then wondering why on earth I'd started and when could I stop?! Feeling as if my lungs would burst.
Then - about half way through I had a couple of minutes when I really felt as if I was running! My breathing felt calm - amazing as I have had asthma pretty much all my life and think any exercise puts me into a primitive sense of panic when I assume I am going to die at any moment through being unable to breathe.
So I decided that maybe it's about trying to relax and focus on things outside my body rather than trying to breathe to survive. And it worked pretty well - running mindfully perhaps? Obvious I suppose - but it was good to experience it for a short while.
As I ran the last bit I was thanking everyone on here for all your support, advice and inspiration. Also thinking of all the others who are aiming to graduate today - hope you've enjoyed your runs!
