Hello all

Just completed the very first day of my C25K journey. I was a bit nervous as I've never liked running, even in school. But I wanted to challenge myself and improve my overall fitness.

This forum seems to have some great hints and tips, and some really motivational and inspiring stories.

Onwards and upwards!

Well done laura! Luke you, never a runner and started 6 weeks ago. Ray for 25 minutes yesterday, over two miles!! Still can't quite get my head around that this is true!! Anyway...ive uses the podcasts an d followed the programme to the letter and it's worked. Also the support, tips and just linking in to see how others manage on here have kept me motivated when I've started to doubt. Good luck...you'll be amazed I'm sure like me. :-)

Well done for getting started. Like you I never thought I could run until I started on this programme. Just started on W5 & am amazed at how I am doing! This forum is amazing for advice & support; very useful too to spur you on when the gremlins break out & you think your run can wait a day or two :-D Key advice seems to be if it's tough, slow down then slow down some more. Happy running :-)

Well done. You are now on a slippery slope to healthy addiction 👏👏. That first step out of the door is the toughest. Enjoy the journey and take it slowly and carefully at your own pace

Ps you're among friends here most of us hated running in school or have declared we cannot run - now look at us. 😀

The forum is great - everyone picks you up if you have a bad day, and cheers on your every success. It is helping me not to make excuses as to why I can't do this... and I used to slow to a walk when I was out of sight of the teacher at school....!! Well done on getting started!

Well done in getting started. I was in the same boat last week but I lived! I am 16.5 stone 5 foot 2 inches and none to fit. It really was a great sense of achievement and I was so proud of myself for sticking with it.

Of I can do it anyone can!!!

GOOD LUCK AND KEEP GOING!!!!

As everyone has already said, Well done on getting started! This programme really can change your life. I started it absolutely convinced I wouldn't make it past the second week! Thanks to the podcasts, Laura and all the lovely people on here, I made it to the end and I can honestly say, it is the BEST thing I have ever done. Good luck with the next run. Looking forward to your future posts...

Welcome!! The C25k programme is simply amazing, following it will change your life and be one of the best decisions you'll ever make. Well done for getting that first run done!

I was exactly the same - exercise-phobe, always hated PE. Now I love running!!!

Top advice is go slow! Slow down until you feel like you can't possibly slow down any more and then slow down again! Take extra rest days (always at least one rest day between runs) if you need to and if you don't manage all the running intervals then try that run again next time. Stretch, listen to Laura, GO SLOWLY, take your rest days and before you know it you'll be running for 30 minutes!

This forum is full of incredible, inspirational people so do use it for advice, encouragement and to let us celebrate your successes with you. :)
