Reflections From A Dog Walk That Turned Into A Joglet With Dog

Set off this afternoon on a walk route we first discovered six months ago. We paused at the spot by the play area where the Princess often greets enthusiastic admirers and allows herself graciously to be petted and fussed over. It is also the very spot where we see the Saturday keep fit group meeting. She gets very excited when they star jump down the path; are humans meant to move like that? Also the scene of the crime where she chased a cat into his own back garden. I felt terrible, until I realised that the gate was open because the lady of the house was bringing her kitchen rubbish out to put in the bin by the play area. Ok, not so guilty then. Now, I keep a careful eye out at that spot. more importantly, I remember looking at my watch on our first time and we had been walking for 40 mins to get there. Today I looked and it had been 25 mins. No power walking, just stepping out. Made me realise just how much the running has improved my fitness. And I was wearing my running gear. Because someone here(Old Possum, I think) had gently suggested that being self conscious about wearing my new favourite things was a bit silly. So I have been doing, and feeling great in them. After about an hour and 20 mins I felt the urge to have a try at running. Have felt this a few times recently, but always realised that I might be wearing the trail shoes but was also wearing normal underwear and would be in real danger of knocking myself out if I ran. But today had the zip up front Lidl number on. So, off I went. It was hard work as rather hilly. After a few seconds of looking at me as if to say "what are you moving like that for" she came with me. All fine until we passed an area of water when she promptly jumped in, lay down and looked as if to say "I'm gonna be here for a while". But I started it. And ten mins is better than nothing. Just goes to show how much this programme builds you, your strength, motivation and confidence up in so many different ways. Now wondering if I still need a rest day tomorrow!

Love this post! So, so true, the things you start noticing that you can do more easily, quicker, without thinking. Brilliant idea to wear your running gear to walk the dog. Definitely going to try that...

Yes, it was (another) turning point for me. I recommend the strategy. What have you got, as a matter of interest?

2 rescue staffies. Soft as butter and twice as daft!

Oh, yes it does. I love them for their full on approach. It's like "phwoarrrr, here I am, Hello!" They are much maligned due to the rearing approaches of a few idiots!

Good on you. It may have been me encouraging you but now I feel guilty coz I'm still playing shy with some of my more fitted running gear. Although I often still have my running clothes on when I walk the dog as I run, breakfast and then take them out. I'm envious if your dogs being young enough to run with you. Back to hankering after dog number 3 again. Shhhh! Don't tell Fazzical πŸ˜€

Well, I don't know Fazzical, but might be inclined to give him a nudge if I did. You need number three, I feel. And go for it with the gear. Is liberating!
