It was the most beautiful day here in Somerset βοΈ. As I drove home from work I got the sudden urge to go for a run in the sun! I quickly got myself and the dog ready and set out. Warm up walk along the nearby roads then started running along a path through some fields to the next village. Then along a grassy footpath, nicely dried up after all this warm, dry weather. When the track ended at a road, it was time to about turn and retrace my steps - puffing very gradually up the hill just in time to catch the sun setting π. Then off again but, and this is where the little adventure starts, I decided to follow a way marked route, which I didn't know, through the fields instead of back round the streets. Lovely grassy route, Squiggy was enjoying all the smells, until we came to a gate. Lots of slippy, squelchy mud and a gate secured with twine, which was tricky. But we managed to get through without getting too muddy, gate secured so off we went again into the next field (luckily no sheep!). At this point I was wondering which way to go - I couldn't see another waymark! Decided to hug close to the edge of the field heading back towards the houses. Good choice as the next gate had a waymark BUT it was very muddy, more like slurry π¬ - smelly dog, smelly and muddy shoes! Negotiated yet more twine and came to a final field which luckily had a little stream to wash smelly doggie! I also recognised where we were, phew. Got home a bit later than planned. Only a short 4K run but eventful ππΎπΆ
Little run after work that turned into an adve... - Couch to 5K
Little run after work that turned into an adventure! π
Sounds like a fun adventure! I would like to get into such an advenu myself, but I live in London
London must be full of adventure potential. Why not run some of the tourist trails ?
That is a brilliant idea ButtercupKid ! I am definitely getting bored of running near my home. My office is near main tourist areas and I could probably take running shoes to office. I am still not a confident runner, but may be in a month or two I can start doing this.
There must be absolutely loads of possibilities. I was reading about the blue plaque trail the other day, which made me think of it. You could even buy a London map and mark where youβve been in different colours - black for βscary street - donβt go back !β; your favourite colour for special places etc π
π sounds a great idea! I would certainly have an adventure in London and get lost!!
Great fun. It is like being a kid again when you get a bit lost like that
This sounds so super..what a lovely adventure..apart from the smelly slurry. It must be so much fun Sue..running in a new location and seeking out new routes..Squiggly will love it!! Beautiful photo and a 4K thrown in! Xxx
Thank you OldFloss. I was inspired by the amazing weather πβοΈ. I bet you are still on Cloud9 after your success.
Just beautiful.... and exciting too for you!
Yes.. I am back to the ground now... I had small runner in training yesterday and today of course... so two days full work out!
Looking forward to a gentle run tomorrow morning... no pressure for once I still keep pinching myself and looking at the photos to make sure I did it!! xxx
You enjoy and send some more lovely photos too please
Sounds like fun ! Great idea to combine running and exploring π
Looks like we are getting more of that beautiful sunshine in Somerset again today π
Now that is my kind of run, where you never know what you might find round the next corner. Sounds like you and Squiggy had a good time!
Sounds wonderful! π
( I was baffled by βSomersetβ and wondering what had happened to βthe Misty Isleβ) - I have caught up now! Have fun finding new places to run near your new home. π
