It feels so close that I knew I would sweat buckets and I hate it when the sweat runs into my eyes. So today I thought I would dig out my black towelling headband that has been lurking at the bottom of the drawer full of running kit. Never used it before because it seems so pretentious somehow.
Tied my hair up, headband on - looks ridiculous! I was trying to describe 'ninja' running to someone on here the other day and now I look the part.
Never mind, I thought, it's always quiet in the village and on a Monday morning most people have gone to work. I'll put my dark running specs on and no one will recognise me anyway.
How wrong was I !!
I was still on my warm up walk when I got stopped not just once but 4 separate times by neighbours who are, rightly, up in arms about a proposed housing development locally. The disguise obviously didn't work at all. But nobody commented or stared - I can only imagine they have become immune to my weird running gear.
So after all that, a good run albeit hot and sweaty. I have to say, that headband actually works a treat....😅

LOL! I had the opposite thing about a year ago - I said hello to someone I know well as I approached him. He looked very puzzled, then later that day said 'oh, was that you?!'. Apparently my cap and sunnies - and the fact that I was out running - was a very effective disguise!
That made me laugh out loud Ully! I've got a few of those headbands but don't actually wear them for the reasons you gave. I think most people just assume us runners are crazy anyway so they don't even notice what we're wearing 😊

Personally I cannot bear running in this weather , and I am so pleased that I am not due out again for my next run until Wednesday/ Thursday this week when hopefully it will be a bit cooler .
I have got an headband but I must have a funny shaped head as I cannot get it to fit on my head properly , so I tend to wear my baseball cap. Sweat in the eyes is flippin' painful isn't it ?

I've got so much hair that I struggle with baseball caps so I just risk sunstroke instead! Not that we actually seem to see much sun in N Yorks. A move is on the cards to the Suffolk/ Essex borders so I may need to adapt to more heat - how about one of those foreign legion type hats with the cloth at the back to protect your neck?
Hey Ully, you can be a Yorkshire exile with me in sunny Suffolk. When I first moved south it dawned on me, after about 6 months, that it almost never rains (well in comparison with Yorkshire). Where my hubby was bought up on the Essex coast they get less rain than the Sahara :)☀️☀️☀️
We're exact opposites- I'm Yorkshire by birth anf East Anglian by marriage. Have yet to persuade hubby of the benefits of moving north, but I'm working on it!
Typical how everyone is out when you don't want tit. Bad run yesterday in the heat - best decision was to wear a blue top rather than the purple one that would have clashed dreadfully with my face.

It's currently 37 outside but I was out early(ish) so only 26 degrees when I did my run but no shade which is a bit of a killer. I never run in shorts but today I made an exception. Nobody was mad enough to be out in the heat so I got away with the shorts!
Isn't that always the way when you don't want to be noticed! Slightly disappointed you didn't post a pic of yourself in your ninja headwear! Well done for running in the heat too☺!
Brilliant stuff! I have a theory that the brightness and tightness of a runner's lycra is inversely proportional to their visibility to others... it's comfortingly anonymising - except of course when you run into someone you know!
I picked up three UV neck buffs in TK Maxx. Very versatile - good in the winter to keep the neck warn and also keep my hair out of my eyes and sweat too!
I can so identify with this today 😊 I donned my best summer frock for my shopping expedition into town today. Floaty georgette dress to catch the breeze and keep me well ventilated. As I was on foot, and have a tough race this Thursday, I daren't risk getting blisters from wearing strappy open toed sandals so I wore socks and my scruffy trail shoes 😀 Who cares? No-one will see me. Ha! Everyone I knew was in town 😎
Well done ully! Sounds like hard going! At least the reponse wasnt negative out and about, istill deel self concious in some gear!! I wore my wrist sweat band the other day and felt like Bjorn Borg! Our club run is at 6pm and it's scorching here! I need to get a hat or headband of some sort x 😊😆
